Postal rate increase, online getting more expensive?

Here is a CNN article on the postal rate increase planned for Jan. 2001.

Does this mean my When Harry Met Sally will be more expensive?
One pound priority mail is raising from $3.20 to $3.50. I'm sure really how this will affect vendors using USPS.
Comments?
At least the rate doesn't look like it will go postal as USPS really wanted.

Amazon and express.com might find reasons to raise prices though :/
What I don't understand is why Amazon doesn't use USPS or Fedex. I remember a friend of mine who works for a primary distributor says shipping packages via either company costs nothing. Eg he shipped me a PC case (50 pounds) overnight for $3.20. Which is easily cheaper than USPS.
