Who is the greatest sci-fi villain of all time?

Of all the sci-fi films out there who is the greatest villain that if he/she really existed in our reality today, would strike fear in every heart? Btw Godzilla is a contender.

My pick would be Darth Vader. 👍

I assume it has to be Darth Vader since they made 3 movies with him and another 3 explaining his back story and then he appears in a big scene in Rogue 1.

He also had his own theme music and it gets played at sporting events too.

The OP beyond the title unfortunately goes into the 'strike fear into people's hearts' qualification. Most people would probably ask Darth Vader for his autograph. I'm going with the Xenopmorph. (Or sonic's mama.)

Yeah, if Vader ran for office, he would get a lot of votes.

Maybe Predators. Or yo mama.

If it was only the OT I would agree with Darth Vader. But now you find out he is just a whiney brat who was easily manipulated.

Kathleen Kennedy.

Though Chris Chibnall would be a close runner up.

Sorry, As much as I love Alien (which is more than Star Wars : A New Hope, BTW) that's not the right choice here. I don't even consider the Xenopmorph a villain, let alone the greatest one. A villain has to harbor malicious intent. . This creature is just hungry and pursuing its nature. The villains of Alien are the company and Ash for letting it in.
It's a hell of an antagonist though.

14 posts in and no one has complained that Star Wars isn’t technically “Sci-fi” yet? We’re all slipping.

But yet
Ash: "Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility." so ... kinda?

I would call wasps, hornets and yellowjackets villains!

Would Clarence Bodikker (Kurtwood Smith) from Robocop count? I always think of it as a sci-fi action movie.

Yeah, Burke is an absolute tool of evil. Isn’t there a story about Paul Reiser’s mom cheering when the xenomorph gets him?

Re: Who is the greatest sci-fi villain of all time?

When I first read the thread title, I thought yo mama.

But I think I could also go with Frankenstein/Frankenstein's monster.

Edit to add: And I guess that depends on how you define villain. The more I think about it, the more I'm talking myself out of that answer. Neither is really a villain.

I mean sure, if you want to take the word of the film's main villain.

I considered that, but I had sympathy for him. I don’t think you can feel that way about a true villain.

I'll pick one for being relentless and shape-shifting. And Robert Patrick's focused determination.
