This outrageously funny esports comedy follows Vivian “V” Lee (Paris Berelc), a competitive gamer whose impressive skills have landed her a college scholarship and a place on the Betas, Barrett University’s male-dominated team. But when the Betas’ captain Dustin (Taylor Zakhar Perez) tells V she’ll never be a starting player, it’s game on. Joined by her best friend Sloane (Hari Nef), and under the guidance of her coach Parker (Ruby Rose), V forms a fierce all-girl team to band together with one common goal: level up to the nationals…and take down the Betas!

This was directed by Kyle Newman, the guy who directed the Star Wars fan film Fanboys. He was heavily promoting this on his social media and they had a big premiere last week.
I don’t like Ruby Rose at all, so that’s a minus for me checking this out even though it’s on Prime Video.

I mentioned this in the prime video thread but I routinely use JustWatch because it's the only way I can really track what comes and goes from Amazon Prime Video, and when I saw this I had no idea it was a new movie, I thought it was just another piece of shovelware they routinely add and drop from their service.

That looks horrible. It looks like a video game rip-off of Dodgeball. When Ruby Rose was showing the team her retro gym, I mean arcade, I actually thought she was going to say, “If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball” which still would have made more sense than what was in the rest of that trailer.

Shame on him for thinking this is a worthy project. I have absolutely no experience in that world but recognize a plot like 1-UP is a potential career killer.
