Directed by Ol Parker (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, writer of the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel films) from his script with Daniel Pipski, Ticket to Paradise is produced by Tim Bevan (Darkest Hour, The Danish Girl) and Eric Fellner (The Theory of Everything, Les Misérables) for Working Title, by Sarah Harvey (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, co-producer In Bruges), by Deborah Balderstone (Palm Beach, Gone), by George Clooney and Oscar® winner Grant Heslov (Argo, The Midnight Sky ) for Smokehouse Pictures and by Julia Roberts and Lisa Roberts Gillan and Marisa Yeres Gill (both co-executive producers, the Homecoming series) for Red Om Films. One one hand that looks silly and that trailer probably spoiled every funny bit in the film.
On the other hand, George Clooney and Julia Roberts having fun and being mean to each other? Totally my wheelhouse!

Right now there's a lot of chatter about how people won't go to theaters to see rom-coms anymore because the movies are not big enough to demand the theater experience.
This is a Universal production, so it will likely end up on Peacock by Christmas. I wonder if these two big stars can pull people into theaters?
The movie opens in two weeks, and since I had to bump this from 3 months ago, I don't see a clamoring of interest at DVD Talk.

Since the trailer basically showed me the whole movie, I can give the movie my rating.

Out this weekend.
The press tour interviews with Clooney and Roberts that I've seen have been fun. I want to see this for the cast, but doubt I will see it in theatres (mostly due to not having the time to). I'll check it out when it is on Peacock.

I was motivated by free popcorn!
My AMC Stubs account had the freebie from it being my birthday earlier in the month, so I was motivated to check something out in the theater. My wife and I enjoyed this. Was I blown away by something new and innovative? Of course not.
For the record, there was quite a few people in the theater for this one. I'm sure it was largely due to the discounted Tuesday tickets and the Clooney/Roberts leads.

I just watched this a few days ago on Prime video. I know it's already over a year old and not on anyone's radar anymore.
I loved the tropical scenics. It was supposedly Bali, but I read it was actually filmed in Australia. I've traveled to Bali before and they did a good job recreating it.
The premise does feel like something that was popular in 1996 or 1997 or the early 2000s. But, it did have some charm to it in spots. Not a great movie by any means, but not hot garbage. I'd give it a B- It was worth a watch at home if you like Clooney or Roberts.

I agree with your entire review. Not something I would have seen in theaters, but didn't regret the time invested.
Everyone in the movie was just, I dunno, charming.

I watched this movie on my flight back from Rome back in March and finally talked my wife into watching it this weekend. We were fans of the 90s and 00s rom coms - with my personal favorite being Clooney and Pfieffer's One Fine Day and this reminded me of that.
