Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022, D: Vuorensola)

The Creeper is back and looking for blood.

“Jeepers Creepers: Reborn,” the fourth installment in the long-running horror franchise, has sold worldwide distribution rights to Screen Media.

The studio plans to release the film in North America in the fall of 2021. Screen Media previously released “Jeepers Creepers 3.”

The latest installment in the series is from director Timo Vuorensola, who previously oversaw the “Iron Sky” films. It is part of planned new trilogy. The film is written by Sean Michael Argo (“Iconoclast”), and produced by Jake Seal (“Quantum of Solace”) of Orwo Studios & Black Hangar Studios and Michael Ohoven (“The Devil’s Rejects”) of Infinity Films.

Seth Needle, Screen Media’s SVP of global acquisitions and co-productions, is executive producing on behalf of the company.

Here’s the logline: “The film unfolds as the Horror Hound festival holds its first ever event in Louisiana, where it attracts hundreds of geeks, freaks and die-hard horror fans from far and wide. Among them is fanboy Chase and his girlfriend Laine, who is forced to come along for the ride. But as the event approaches, Laine begins to experience unexplained premonitions and disturbing visions associated with the town’s past, and in particular, local legend/urban myth The Creeper. As the festival arrives and the blood-soaked entertainment builds to a frenzy, Laine believes that something unearthly has been summoned…and that she is at the center of it.”

“Jeepers Creepers: Reborn” was shot at Orwo Studios & Black Hangar Studios and on location in Jackson, La., in December and January. It is currently in post-production. Screen Media’s Creative Executive Conor McAdam is serving as associate producer.

“As excited as we are, we know that fans will be even more thrilled (and chilled) to return to the world of the Creeper, now with a much scarier vision from director Timo Vuorensola, who is the perfect fit to restart this franchise,” said Screen Media in a statement.

The deal was negotiated by Needle for Screen Media with Seal on behalf of the production.

Also serving as executive producers are Jamie R. Thompson, Terry Bird, David Nagelberg, Danny Zamost, Michael Musante, Lee Broda, Matthew Kurtain, Karey Kurtain, Alastair Burlingham, Gary Raskin, Elizabeth Primm, Suraj Gohil, Mark Mariani, Janelle Mariani, Galen Rasmussen and Shannon Chandler.

JC3 was so awful that at least for me it outright killed the franchise.

Moving away from the original Creeper, Victor Salva, is a good first step.

It’s been years since I’ve seen the original but I remember enjoying the first 2/3 of it. Part 2 was forgettable and I never bothered with the 3rd one.

I’m all for another installment but that synopsis doesn’t sound particularly intriguing. “Unexplained premonitions and visions” is a lazy man’s storytelling approach.

Part 1 & 2 are cool, especially Ray Wise in part 2. Never watched part 3 due to the general consensus of it being godwaful.

Don't know why they never did that prequel or direct sequel to part 2.

I really enjoyed both first and second films and Blu ia right. Ray Wise was awesome in the second movie. Left the mlvie with a great cliffhanger and would love to have seen the outcome at the beginning of a third movie. I didnt check out the third movie they released as it sounded garbage. This has peaked my interest.

I enjoyed parts 1 & 2. 3 pissed me off because instead of showing us what happened after the end of 2, they went with another tale. Ended up selling 3. Because 4 really has nothing to do with that established story line and has had the reins passed on to someone else, I'll skip 4+. Victor Salva might have had issues 30 years ago, but haven't heard anything bad since. The guy makes interesting movies, I'll give him that.

I also loved Ray Wise in the 2nd movie and the 3rd one was garbage. I'll watch the 4th, but I don't have high expectations.

As much as I loved the first. They should've just stop at 2. Not even remotely interested in this one.

Re: Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022, D: Vuorensola)

I kinda feel like the whole "horror movie set in a horror festival" has been played out, although a lot of the movies that utilize the setting haven't been as high-profile as this. Stuff like BLOOD FEST, HOUSES OCTOBER BUILT, HAUNT, HELL FEST, HELL HOUSE LLC, FUNHOUSE MASSACRE, AMERICAN FRIGHT FEST, SCAREHOUSE, MIDNIGHT MOVIE, and a ton of others all the way down the budget scale. In fairness, I tend to grab random and DTV horror titles in dollar stores and dump bins more often than I should, so I've probably just come across a inordinate amount with this theme in recent years (and saw more 'related' titles when looking them up on IMDb while watching them), so adding a franchise character like the Creeper into one may seem refreshing to those who haven't seen this concept a million times already.

I'd only watch it if it was available on one of my services. Just curious to see if they can do something interesting with the character.

Yeah, I agree with you. The character is very interesting in itself (big, big reason the first movie is so awesome great character design.).

Well at least they didn't use the child-molesting director for this one.

The first one is good because we knew so little about the character. The more we learn about the Creeper the less interesting he becomes.

I'm surprised they made a 4th. I think the title is BO poison. The general public probably think he's still directing.

Maybe not by name but I'm sure they've heard the stories.

I doubt it. I feel like the only ones who know are horror fans. If you put this in theaters, most wont even know the backstory.

Yeah, his depredations kind of flew under the radar. It should be noted that he did serve a prison sentence. I'm ambivalent as to whether he should be blackballed for life.

And he wrote and directed the third one, too. I have no idea why he would tank it like he did, because the prequel/sequel stuff would have been awesome to have set up and done right.

Re: Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022, D: Vuorensola)

Just got back from seeing this and low expectations are the best thing to have. It was really low budget and the cast had no chemistry, especially the two leads. The Creeper himself has become a run-of-the-mill slasher, as before he had "reasons" he killed the people he did. Now, he just kills anyone he comes across for no rhyme or reason. No mentions of past movies and very little continuity. Overall, while I did enjoy it to a certain extent, I don't think it will hold up in repeat viewings. I give it a 6/10.

A guy I watch on YouTube, Cody Leach reviewed this and hated it. He does a lot of horror reviews and likes the first couple entries in this franchise in spite of the director.

I watch Cody Leach pretty regularly. I haven't watched this review, but will in a few. I agree with a lot of his views and even if I don't, he explains it to the point where I understand where he's coming from...

He’s one of the better reviewers on YouTube in my opinion. Especially for horror.
