In Frosty the Snowman (1969), is Frosty regarded as the god of snow?

So basically is Frosty the personification of ice and snow?

Wouldn’t the person who put the magic in his hat be considered the god of snow? Frosty is just the result of that higher being messing with the balance of life.

If anything, Frosty is the personification of an otherworldly misguided desire to create life from material that is not designed to be alive. Frosty is simply a perversion of science.

Yeah, Frosty is more of an avatar or an elemental. He's not the driving force behind the control/creation of snow, but he is a manipulation of that element given life.

I feel like if he were the god of snow he could have saved himself from melting. The magic hat giveth and the magic hat taketh away.

Yes, the Greeks regarded him this way (see Edith Hamilton's "Mythology", Chapter 12). The Romans, however, who referred to him not as Frosty but rather Sleetius Indominus, considered him a lesser being, below even a demigod.

I hope if someone were to ask him personally if he was a God, he would say yes.

Do gods usually require fashion accessories?

What's the biggest inflatable Frosty you've seen? I can't find any bigger than 6' tall. They make a 25' Rudolph by comparison.

I do not know if it was actually Frosty The Snowman but when I visited my brother in Castro Valley over the holidays a house near his had a massive inflatable snowman, at least 20ft tall, it was actually part of a really cool inflatable display.

Frosty sacrifices himself for the sins of the children...esp. the evil runaway Karen...and rises again to take his place by the almighty Santa Claus. So, yes, definitely a god.

Re: In Frosty the Snowman (1969), is Frosty regarded as the god of snow?

He's not very bright for a snow deity or even a very convincing super being. Could be he's just an accidental minion created by the Great Intelligence of Doctor Who lore. So the hat is probably just a control box that fell thru a rip in the fabric of time and space into an animated 2.5D universe. The first Doctor once theorized that the Tardis possessed the capability to open up dimensional gateways into works of literary fiction.

A control box/hat falling through the cracks, into an animated cartoon reality is not to far out of the question using this line of logic.

Is Frosty the snowman the god of cold weather?

I thought so because it is immortal and returns every Christmas and has an adjective for a name. What do you think?

Re: Is Frosty the snowman the god of cold weather?

In my opinion, no. The true God of Cold Weather is the Yeti who, if you actually go back and look through Norse and Frigidaire mythology, you find it was the mighty Yeti Damnitschilly who created Frosty. The story goes, that Frosty was formed by the Yeti's testicles when, due to low temperatures, they fell off. Originally, Frosty was evil but was transformed into the goodly character we love today by an Elf named Robert and the Magic of Christmas.

You refer to a god as "it"? I think you are going to have trouble staying frosty when you are burning in hell.

I always thought Jack Frost was the god of cold weather.

Re: Is Frosty the snowman the god of cold weather?

I was going to echo what Decker said, someone asked this question either last year or possibly even back in 2019 or earlier. I guess the OP thinks it might be cute asking this question now when many places (at least in the Western States) are about to experience a bout of vicious hot weather. Maybe if we all think about Frosty the Snowman and cool thoughts we can mentally prepare ourselves not to feel as impacted by the upcoming heat, I guess that is worth a try.

I only wish Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer got this kind of attention on DVDTalk.
