Directed by Kevin Macdonald and based on the NY Times best-selling memoir “Guantánamo Diary” by Mohamedou Ould Slahi, this is inspiring the true story of Slahi’s fight for freedom after being detained and imprisoned without charge by the U.S. Government for years. Alone and afraid, Slahi (Tahar Rahim) finds allies in defense attorney Nancy Hollander (Jodie Foster) and her associate Teri Duncan (Shailene Woodley) who battle the U.S. government in a fight for justice that tests their commitment to the law and their client at every turn. This is up as a $19.99 PVOD rental. I watched a free screening from the distributor today. It was pretty good and the lead actor Tahar Rahim (from the great film A Prophet) was very, very good, and deserving of his GG nom. The film fits in nicely with Mcdonald's other filmography. This would play as a decent double feature with The Report, but I think this film was better and more entertaining. I wouldn't spend the money on the pricey rental fee though.

I though it was good though most of the reviews said it was generic or bland and the subject matter deserved a better treatment.
