I loved 3-Iron. People who enjoyed Parasite should really check that out.

A real shame. I've been fortunate enough to see a couple of his films theatrically here in the US. Always loved how he could tell a tale with minimal dialogue, and I knew it was only a matter of time before he made a film with no dialogue whatsoever, and he did that with Moebius. One of the best South Korean directors, if you haven't seen any of his films, do yourself a favor and watch one tonight.

I met him once. At the 2003 Karlovy Vary Film Festival, in the Czech Republic, I went to a screening of his film The Coast Guard. We chatted real briefly; I didn't like the story, but I loved the way he filmed it. The themes of nihilism and reunification didn't quite gel for me, but he had a gonzo filmmaking style that I really appreciated. Shame to hear he passed away
