Michael Lonsdale(Moonraker) has passed away

This according to the CNN website.

I would rank him somewhere in the middle as a James Bond villain

Certainly better than Stromberg(previous Bond movie villain) even though Spy Who Loved Me was a better movie.

I thought he was good in Day Of The Jackal(1973).

I enjoyed his brief roles in both Ronin and Munich as well.

Day of the Jackal is awesome and he's really good. That and Moonraker are how I know him best, but The Bride Wore Black and The Name of the Rose stick out in my mind as well.

Re: Michael Lonsdale(Moonraker) has passed away

He did have a great dry, aloof delivery for a Bond villain.

"Mr. Bond, you defy all my attempts to plan an amusing death for you."

"James Bond. You appear with the tedious inevitability of an unloved season."

"And you, Dr. Goodhead, your desire to become America's first woman in space will shortly be fulfilled."

And my favorite,

"May I press you to a cucumber sandwich?"

RIP Michael Lonsdale

Not sure I've seen Moonraker, pretty sure if I had I'd remember it simply for Lonsdale.
