Merge TV Talk and Streaming Talk?
I’m sure there was a reason for Streaming Talk, but in this new age of cord cutting and mega content owners putting out their own content, I wonder if it would make sense to merge them.
I do see individual threads on shows, but surprised to not see general threads on services or updates. I was looking for something on HBO Max, but then realized there was a streaming section of the site I should go look in.
Anybody else, or am I just out by myself in left field on this one?

Why? Because you never knew it existed?
its a fairly active forum. So no it doesn’t make any sense to do that. That forum is more about deals and services. TV is about the actual content.

I think the current setup is fine. Many streaming services are primarily movies so it wouldn’t make sense to categorize them under TV. And deciding whether to put some under TV or movies sounds like a headache.

Fair enough. Just figured I’d ask.
No, it’s not because I didn’t remember it existed. It’s that I expected there to be a topic in TV Talk and realized there wasn’t one. I was confused why there wasn’t.

As I mentioned earlier, it’s a blend of movies and TV content. You assumed it’d be in TV Talk because of the name, which reinforces the discussion we’ve had in that thread about whether that was the best choice of branding because it might diminish the movie content.

Here's my flaming hot take of the day:
With the minimal activity that this place has, consolidation of the forums make sense to me, as such:
(note that the sub-forum names below are just descriptors, not what I'd actually call them)
But, like... I'm actually fine with it the way it is. I'd rather see it left alone than minor incremental changes.

- What you consume (for Movies, TV, Music, Comics, Anime, Video Games, Sports, whatever.)
- How you consume (for discussion of Hardware/CD/DVD/Blu-ray/4K/Vinyl/Laserdisc/CED/Streaming/Subscriptions of media & widgets)
- Buy/Sell/Trade of consumption widgets (sticky the digital code thread)
- The Holt (aka: Ottertown. for everything that's not clearly one of the above)
- The Cesspool (World Events / Religion / Politics)
- The Cesspool Below (all the Meme threads)
- Complaints go in the Out Box (Feedback)
- Book Talk ( there's a book talk?? )

Re: Merge TV Talk and Streaming Talk?
I don’t find Streaming Talk to be all that necessary personally. The big news that’s usually talked about is related to shows produced by streaming services, which end up in TV Talk anyways as they seem to fit there better, and I think TV Talk has more traffic.
Streaming Talk seems like it winds up mostly being a place to discuss deals and maybe some general talk or talk about devices for streaming. I guess it’s fine having it, but I don’t find it essential and rarely visit that subsection.

I visit it much more now than I used to. As more people are cutting the cord, along with the proliferation of ne services, the popularity of the subforum will grow.

I like the separation of the two as you can focus in the details and content of a particular streaming service without derailing the thread for an actual show and discussion of the episodes.

Yeah, I don't see any real need for merging. But whatever you do, don't you dare take away the Political Film subforum, we'd be lost without it!

NO! Don't merge them...I don't want to sort through dozens of TV threads to find out the ones I like to read about my streaming apps. Keep them separate.
