Eminem drops surprise new album Music To Be Murdered By
Out of nowhere, Eminem has dropped a surprise new album called Music To Be Murdered By.
The 20-track LP marks the Detroit rapper’s eleventh full-length to date, following 2018’s Kamikaze. Guest contributors to the new album include Anderson .Paak, The Roots’ Black Thought, Q-Tip, Ed Sheeran, Royce da 5’9″, and Skylar Grey. There’s also a posthumous collaboration with Juice WRLD.

Damn, 20 years later he's rapping about the same stuff? Being depressed, taking drugs, killing...oh wait, it's from the POV of the Las Vegas shooter. Very edgy and controversial. But not too much because the video ends with a plea for gun control? Kind of like if his song "Kim" had a stop-domestic-violence message tacked on at the end.
The song itself is okay, but kind of boring. I liked his first two albums.

Me too. I love Eminem. Always have, always will. Have every album. Not every one great, but still amazes me, the way he puts lyrics together and all his collaborations work. The one where he samples Ozzy in Going Through Changes is one of my favs of all time. I just think he is an amazing lyricist and puts rhymes together much different than others. White, black...I don’t care. That boy can rap and 8 Mile by the late Curtis Hanson was really good. I think I even saw in theaters. It worked and he worked, with other, more seasoned actors, of course. God, Brittany Murphy dead. Curtis Hanson dead. That’s deep. But, great movie.
Bought this. Sampled most. Ed Sheeran song not bad. Juice WRLD probably last thing he recorded good. That Darkness good. One with Skylar Grey is good. Can’t wait to here all...

I'm assuming it's partly inspired by something Hitchcock said? Either way, I think he's full of shit. Offensive stuff has always been his gimmick but at the moment, in the era of Trump, being white and having a history of violent, misogynistic and homophobic lyrics will make you look like an alt-right white nationalist sympathizer. The album was made to inspire "positive action"? Not to just line him and his record label's pockets? C'mon.
It's crazy this guy is almost 50 and but the content of his music doesn't seem to have evolved.

What do you expect Eminem to rap about? He can't and shouldn't fill an album with club songs. He doesn't mumble when he raps. He is simply dope when it comes to metaphors and similes, along with putting together verses that flow easily.

That's a pretty limited scope to have if you think the only other subject matter out there is club songs. And because he doesn't do mumble rap he's automatically good? Honestly, I think someone like Young Thug has better musical output these days. XXX Tentacion was doing the violent, depressed angle too and at least it sounded new, and it's coming from someone young and dumb. What's Eminem's excuse? But to be fair, I don't support those guys either.
Maybe he's grown up in his subject matter. I haven't listened to the album. I'm just looking at how he presents himself with this album cover and title, and with the lead single and it seems like the same stuff he was doing 20 years ago. If I was a teenager I guess it'd be edgy but at this point he just comes across as a cornball.

Can Eminem rap like he's a gangster or thug? Nope! How many times do we want to hear him with his heartbroke or strung out on dope? This album is filled to the brim with Eminem focused in on subjects to what was going through the mind of the Vegas shooter to Cardi B robbing men. He talks about his childhood with the Royce the 5'9" alongside talking about reparation. And he even one ups Rap God by outpacing himself while reminding us how clever he is with the pen. If you are willing to name some of the rap artists you listen to then I'm open to your criticism. The album cover on content is based off of Alfred Hitchcock's work of the same name. I think people are too quick to dismiss Eminem because it is easier to dismiss him and try to look around him than confront him.
