On the desktop version of the site you press your name in the upper right corner, go to User CP, and then it’s an option on the left hand side of the screen. It says Edit Avatar. Not sure how or if you can do it on the mobile version of the site.

You might be too new. I think you may need at least ten posts, something like that. Welcome, hope you have a good experience.

Re: Profile Pictures
I had to go to FAQ to find anything out about Avatars/Profile Pics, there used to be a link somewhere to the Rules but I can't find it anymore. Anyway, in the FAQ's there's a section on Sigs, Avatars, & Profile Pics. I just tried to click on a link provided there entitled Edit Profile Picture, and was presented with:
I'm guessing it's been disabled by the Administrator...
I know Avatars have a minimum number (?) of posts before you can sport one, didn't know about Profile Pics.
kd5, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Either on a forum page, like Movie Talk, or a thread page, on the bottom left is a box called Posting Rules. Bottom of that box is the Forum Rules.

You can also disable them. I forgot the forum even had avatars until a couple of days ago when I was in my user settings and remembered I’d turned off avatars and signatures several years ago.
I forget who it was now, but someone had this extremely obnoxious signature, annoying enough to ruin my browsing experience, so I had to just disable it completely. Too bad we can’t just disable such things for individual users. I guess we could block them, though, and it would achieve the same goal.
