MONDAY, APRIL 29

ARROW

"Confessions" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, V) (HDTV)

ARSENAL RETURNS TO HELP THE TEAM - When they learn of an upcoming attack on the city, Team Arrow calls Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) to help them stop the Ninth Circle. However, things go awry and there is massive collateral damage. As Captain of the SCPD, Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) investigates what happened in an episode that takes on a true crime narrative and tone. Tara Miele directed the episode written by Onalee Hunter Hughes & Emilio Ortega Aldrich (#720). Original airdate 4/29/2019.

Poor Roy, first the Mirakuru and then he goes and dies. What's next, the Plague?

Not a bad episode, probably because they were back to formula. None of the flash-forward stuff.

Now Team Arrow is actively covering up the murders of two Innocents so that's new...

I thought they would do more with Roy this season. He's been MIA most of the time before this episode.

I just got caught up with the last 5 weeks, including this one.

I didn't expect the reveal that Roy was affected by the blood lust from dying. It was an entertaining episode, but damn, we're heading into darker territory now with Team Arrow covering up 2 murders of innocent guards.

It was good that they kept things in the present.

Even Dinah is part of the conspiracy and she's the police captain. You know they're going to get found out eventually. They should all be in prison.

Yeah, I think they took these characters to a place they can't recover from, maybe because it's the sort-of last season. You can do some dark stuff in a show like this, but I don't think you can have your heroes do what they did and still expect the audience to treat them like heroes.

Yeah it’s one thing for Oliver to do this. He’s a sociopath. The others, though are not.

I think what the team did this episode more thoroughly destroys the legacy than Emiko ever could. Still, it was an interesting watch.

Bugs me that they covered it up. We will have to find out that they were NOT innocent guards. Yep, that's about it. When people find out they can't come back from that.

Looking back, they should have made Thea turn permanently evil after she was resurrected. That would have been a great arc if done correctly. Have her take Deathstroke's place as Oliver's arch-nemesis.

Surprising turns - Roy being guilty and then everyone covering it up - not sure what to make of this going fwd unless this leads to the eventual series end in S8.

Even Diggle was a law officer- you'd think he'd know better- he was Oliver's conscience for most of the show.

Something about this episode just didn't feel right- did the usual writers pen this episode?

Has this season felt aimless to anyone else? I mean, we didn't have a physical main villain until the last couple episodes and I don't know where they're going with this flash forward stuff, but it seems out of place for Arrow. I still like the show but it feels like they've been spinning their tires this whole season.

The primary showrunners for Arrow that were there since the beginning left at the end of last season. The network knew Amell wasn't planning to come back when his contract ended. The new showrunners tried using this season as a test to see if they could plausibly keep Arrow going after Amell left. The flash forward was obviously an experiment that didn't work out that well, even with Katherine McNamara's inclusion.
