I, for one, am all for this. While the original 1989 version had its moments, it ultimately comes off too campy for a story that was actually horrifying in book form.

ironic that the original poster has a reference to PS in his sig.
This is one movie that truely freaked me out when I saw it. But I haven't seen it in years, so I couldn't say if it has held up or not.

I don't want a remake, but a (I'll use the new Hollywood hip term) "re-visiting of the original material" could possibly be welcomed . . .

I don't know if they can get a kid creepier than the one that played Gage in the original.

I just wish they had played Gage a bit more seriously instead of with the monotonous five word vocabulary and an annoyingly fake laugh.
In the book, Gage was loaded with a memory that was ageless, and it was wise, and wicked.
...and he was harder to kill in the book, too.

I'd much rather have a remake of a crappy movie than the remake of a classic. 2 reasons:
1) If they screw it up, no loss. The original was crappy anyway.
2) If they get it right, then we finally have a good version!

They've remade classics and sometimes the remakes are remembered more fondly than the original:
example: Pygmalion (1938) and My Fair Lady (1964)

As with almost all King adaptions, the movie wasn't bad unless you'd already read the book. The original film was just too conventional, with the typical scares. It didn't have the atmosphere or the dread of the book. If someone can capture that feel, I'm all for the remake. If they're just going to churn out another okay movie, then it's probably pointless.

Not sure how I feel about a re-make.

For some reason, I would like to see this done - but at the same time I'm a little concerned as to why. I acutally liked the original a lot, it didn't try to be more than what it was suppose to (the sequel anyone? Horrible).
Ah well, should be interesting to see what happens.

George Clooney to star in remake of Pet Sematary (maybe)

Personally I see no reason why this movie is being remade as the original is not that old and is still pretty creepy.

Forget about this re-make George. Years ago you optioned "DEADWORLD" which is a mature hardcore comic book about Zomibes, led by a Biker Zombie called "King Zombie", taking over the Earth...why haven't you made this yet?
