If you Netflix, It's been on there for a while. It's not too bad.

I thought the original Pet Sematary was great.
I'm not a fan of a lot of recent remakes, but I think this was is worth doing as long as they try to make it different from the first film, ie following it closer to King's novel.

The book is/was fucking gruesome, good but gruesome. The movie tried really hard to be as gruesome but didn't quite get there. Dale Midkiff was not right for the part of the father, his performance was wooden IMHO. Don't know who would've been better. Everyone else's performance was fine. Don't get me wrong, I like the movie, have it in my collection. it just wasn't as good as it could've been considering the source material. I read once where Stephen King had to set writing the story aside for quite awhile during the part with the father/son in the cemetary, apparently it was too gruesome even for him at the time. If a movie could be made capturing all of the gruesome that was contained in the book, and cast believeable actors, I'd be all for it.

The original is kinda terrible and in no way lives up to the horror and dread of the novel. If we can get a movie of equal quality to the new "IT", then I say bring it on.

Other than Fred Gwynne, the original doesn’t hold a candle to the book. I’m up for a better adaptation.

I can already hear Lithgow’s god-awful attempt at a Maine accent and already want to punch Clarke in the face. The cat looks terrible — just looks like a cat.

Looking forward to this!

The cat looks angry that it was given a bath.

Actually, the cat looks just like the one on the original paperback, which is the version I own.

I'm little worried reading about the changes from the book...
We'll see I guess.

Re: Pet Sematary -- remake (2019, D: Kolsch & Widmyer) S: Lithgow, Clarke, Seimetz

Maybe it's because of the previous roles I've seen him in, but Jason Clarke looks like some guy we know is either up to no good, or going to get involved in some shit. Kind of like casting Jack Nicholson in The Shining. It was a great movie, but alcoholism or not, we knew just by looking at the character he was wacko and didn't need a haunted house to bring it out of him.
I thought Dale Midkiff's portrayal of all around nice guy/family man Louis Creed worked well for the film, because it contrasted better how everything went to hell later. Then again, the Louis Creed in the book seems a lot different from the one in the '89 film, so maybe the script and Clarke will be able to channel that better.

My thoughts exactly.

I read the book as a teenager. Finished it late one night in bed. When I read the last line my entire body went numb and I threw the book on the floor. No other book has scared me that badly. Now that I'm a dad I'm not sure I could read it again.

The movie -- terrible. Other than Gwynne (and, at moments, the little boy playing Gage), the acting was HORRIBLE. So hammy and fake. Living up to the book was an impossible task but it didn't even come close.

Here's hoping the new version is better. I like the casting of Lithgow. Hope they don't add too much to the story.

What's with the masks on the kids. I guess they're trying to make it creepier. Otherwise, looks okay.

Willing to give it a shot.

Surprised Lithgow didnít make the attempt at an accent (I swear I could hear it in my head before).

Not sure about the kids in the masks ... donít remember that element from the book.

Regarding the masks, I'm getting a The Wicker Man vibe from the entire trailer, so that may be an homage. Perhaps they're approaching more of an occult element in terms of the cemetery.
