Not surprised. I knew he was in really bad shape for awhile.

I'm a bit familiar with him but not a huge fan. Rhinestone Cowboy is a definite classic though. RIP.

Alzheimer's, man. Fuck that shit.

Wichita Lineman is one of the great songs of the 20th century. RIP.

He's a favorite of mine, partially due to the fact that my dad was a fan and played his music on an 8-track in the vehicle he had while we were growing up. I just watched the documentary about his late life struggles (I'll Be Me) in the last few months. I highly recommend it.

Sad news. Not a fan of country western but I thought he and Bobbie Gentry did a good version of The Everly Brothers hit All I Have To Do Is Dream.

Also has one of the greatest lyrics in pop history:
"And I need you more than want you/And I want you for all time."

I know his work a little. He was the subject of a documentary a few years ago, largely focusing on Alzheimer's. Guaranteed to leave you teary eyed.

Had the pleasure to see him at the Moon River Theater in Branson, MO about 12-14 years ago.
He sang all his hit songs and his daughter Debby also sang a couple of songs plus a duet with her dad.
Glen and Andy Williams also did a couple of songs together.

Excellent Entertaining Show.

Rest In Peace!

Highly, highly recommend his 2011 album, Ghost On The Canvas.

Was skeptical since I knew he was ailing from Alzheimer's back then, but saw it on Amazon Black Friday deal. Was bowled over by the quality (and wasn't ever a huge GC fan, finding a lot of his stuff too slick & smarmy). Sixteen solid tracks with several standouts that could be on a "Best of" compilation. Title track doubles as a reference to the disease that was robbing him of his memory and abilities.

Guests include Chris Isaak, Brian Setzer, Dick Dale, Billy Corgan, Dandy Warhols, Rick Neilsson, and other admirers from different genres.

Just saw that he had a recent "farewell" release titled Adios. Unlike Ghosts, there were lots of cover tunes. I thought it was unreleased tracks, but evidently not. Again, some duets & other helpers, and a decent final effort.

Just one sample from the album above. Written by Jakob Dylan, but I like Glen's version better.
