Favorite song and album TITLES

No, this isn't about the names of your favorite songs or albums; it's about your favorite song and album titles.

For instance, I always thought that Spooky Tooth's You Broke My Heart, So I Busted Your Jaw was a great name for an album. I've never actually heard it, however.

So, (PUN ALERT) for the record, here are my favorite song and album titles:

Song: "Jesus Christ You're Tall" by Harry Nilsson

For some reason, I find this song title to be hysterically funny, even though I don't particularly like the song itself.

Album: Warm, in Your Coat by Romeo Void

Even though it's a compilation album, I think that it has a wonderfully evocative title, especially when seen like this in isolation from the other lyrics of the song that it's taken from ("Never Say Never").

So...does anybody else have any favorite song and/or album titles you'd like to share?

Good topic, but I can't think of anything offhand. I'll get back to you.

Post this on the Steve Hoffman Forum. You'll get 30 pages of responses.

Of course you'll have to deal with 60 year old men arguing about the the sound quality of the album title.

Re: Favorite song and album TITLES

Maybe not my absolute favourite titles, but the ones that came to mind...

Song title: Okay I believe you, but my tommy gun don't (by Brand New)
The song is alright. Self-centered, emo-rock stuff. But I always liked the title.

Album title: At the Soundless Dawn (by Red Sparowes)
I just like the sound of this title a lot. It sets a specific sort of mood and setting for the music you're about to hear.
(I also like the same band's album title: The Fear is Excruciating, but Therein Lies the Answer)

And, not a song, but the title of a track on a live stand-up comedy album:
When All is Said and Done, I am Lonely and Miserable and Barely Able to Mask My Contempt for the Audience as I Trot Out the Same Sorry Act I've Been Doing Since the Mid-Eighties!

Re: Favorite song and album TITLES

A lot of favorite song titles but will stick to albums. Most of these were found by Googling, but I actually own Yo La Tengo's "I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your A**."

Not including intentional novelty records such as the infamous Millie Jackson album which makes every "bad album cover" list & staying away from most double entendre titles which are unintentionally funny, such as Dick Black's "A Taste of" album).

Some nice ones:

Caravan: If I Could Do It All Over Again, I'd Do It All Over You."

Mclusky: "The Difference Between Me and You Is That I'm Not On Fire."

And one by Murder By Death that actually came in at #23 AND #33 on one list: "Like The Exorcist, Only More Breakdancing."

Honorable Mention:

The first thing that popped into my head was actually a movie title, so I'm just gonna roll with it. The original title of Werner Herzogs film "The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser" was "Every Man for Himself and God Against Us All". It was banned in most countries I believe. I always thought it was a badass title.

I always thought Intensities in 10 Cities by Ted Nugent was a clever name for a live album.
