Two Cameron films. Two very good sequels. Which is your favorite? Feel free to discuss...

T2 all the way. T2 is actually my favorite flick of all time. It's what got me into films as an art form.

Giving the edge to T2, because Arnold.

Other : Ridley Scott's Alien or James Cameron's Terminator

Not a fan of sequels.

Alien by a light year...and The Terminator is my favorite Cameron film.

The Terminator is IMO Cameron's best film. When it comes to Scott I agree : The Duellists, Alien & Blade Runner are all great. IMO the rest of his films fall between mediocre & shit.

Terminator 2 is one of my favorite movies ever so I'm going with it. It's one of those films that's just endlessly rewatchable for me. Aliens is good too but truthfully I was never quite as big on the series even though I do like the first two a lot.

I consider Cameron to be a director I really enjoy (with some exceptions). I absolutely love both movies, but I'm gonna side with "Aliens". I love T2, but it kind of is a redux of T1.

But 20+ years later, the attack on Cyberdyne is still awesome.

One is the best sci-fi action film of all time, and the other is Terminator 2 (which is still a fine film). But it's Aliens all the way, and I didn't even have to think about it.

No mention of Piranha II: The Spawning?

Aliens by a wide margin. And I like T2, but it's candy. Aliens is a fucking steak.

no doubt Aliens. damn near perfect movie, IMO.

I like T2, and would have liked it more if not for Edward Whiney**** Furlong.

The Abyss Director's Cut

This is the correct answer. T2 is great, but the first time I saw Aliens I was freaked out and excited by it. T2 didn't have any effect on me like Aliens did. And the casting was perfect in Aliens, and like someone else said, for T2 Edward Furlong was not the right kid for that role.

Aliens, the gunfights, characters and locations were all better.

Gotta give the edge to T-2. The effects and action still hold up, the CGI is only used when it's actually appropriate, and the whole nostalgic factor of seeing this several times over the summer of 1991 before my Freshman year of H.S. Back when you didn't need an adult with you to see a rated R movie.

Aliens is probably the best of its respectable series, but my whole experience with it has been through home video/theater. This and The Abyss are two movies I wish I could see, in their extended forms, theatrically.

Ooooh, this is a hard one.


I'd go with Aliens simply because it's more different than the original, it is more RELENTLESS with its action, and The characters are so well written (and likable, except for Paul Reiser's).

The better of the two is Aliens. It's just better in every form. My favorite is T2. Cuz well I grew up on it and it's fucking great. It has a lot of the elements that I admired of the genres I grew up on and it did them very well.

Got to love James Cameron. In his movies, he creates a technically realistic sci-fi premise. He'd only introduce a handful of sci-fi elements and "technological conveniences". And then base the rest in our current world. Not the "fantasy sci-fi" that we're bombarded with now.

That kind of sci-fi is kind of gone from mainstream movies right now. Maybe it'll return someday. Avatar went a little too far out to stand next to his older movies.

Ditto on all that.

For this it's tough because both i dont give a shit about, but i'll go with Aliens instead for having some sick imagery.

Aliens, no contest.

While I honestly prefer Alien, Aliens expands the universe of the original, feels like a fluid growth of the first movie. And most importantly it has the guts to be a completely different movie from the original. I feel like most sequels would have just sent another ship to that planet and picked up another alien; it would have been a rehash of the original.

And on top of that, it's hard to find any flaws with Aliens. A totally solid action/sci-fi movie that builds to an amazingly tense finale that lasts about a half hour.


T2 messes with the perfection that is the first Terminator. The original is a perfectly-wrapped low-key movie that ends in an optimistic way despite the fact that the apocalypse is coming. We're fed just enough information to paint the picture of the war and the future, along with the time travel element. Our imagination pieces the rest together.

T2 turns a relatively indie movie that screams 1980's into the biggest movie ever, an awkward jump. It crams the theme into "no fate but what we make of ourselves," giving a happy ending that doesn't fit the tone of the original. We get a smarmy kid who teaches the terminator catch phrases.

And adding more time travel shakes the mythology, which was previously based on tidbits. Now I'm asking questions like "why not send the T-1000 first to fight Kyle" or "why not send the T-1000 & T-800 to team up together?" The first movie made the stakes feel desperate, that Kyle and the T-800 were sent back in time as a last resort right before the defense grid was smashed.

T2 for me, but both are awesome. And I love both sequels more then the originals.

T2 by a thin margin. I love Aliens (and I might get grilled for this), but the ending battle with Ripley in the forklift suit is kind of a letdown after everything that's come before it. Both are crammed with great characters, effects and action, but T2's ending (minus the thumbs-up) gives it the edge.

Before I realized this was a poll, I came in here thinking that Fox was making a movie called, "Aliens vs. Terminator 2," and I immediately thought, "When was the first Aliens vs. Terminator movie, because that sounds awesome!"

I'm disappointed.

Also, Aliens.

Gotta go with Aliens. I remember when my brother rented it from the video store. My buddy and I watched it like 4 times in one day. Special effects were amazing back then and still hold up great today.

I just loved how the technology and security of a marine platoon gets ripped away one by one until it's just Ripley and few bullets left.
