I can't think of another actor who can command two different genres (Comedy movies and action movies) so successfully

It means he's a pitcher and a catcher, which is potentially accurate.

As for a movie star? His action flicks (including his role) are mostly misses (Green Lantern, Deadpool in Wolverine and Blade Trinity being the only three I can recall and they were all terrible, especially GL and BT), and he isn't particularly funny. He's decent in drama though (Buried).

I like Ryan Reynolds, but he usually chooses shit films to act in. Look at his filmography. It's a consistent line of shit.

For example:

Buying the Cow is a fucking awful film, but Reynolds stands out in a sea of shit.

Just Friends, National Lampoon's Van Wilder and Waiting... are shit, but they also happen to be guilty pleasures of mine.

Blade: Trinity looks like the retarded third child when standing next to Blade and Blade II, but Reynolds is one of the stand-out moments of the flick.

Chaos Theory and The Nines are interesting independent films that misfire, but again, Reynolds does great with the role he's given.

I enjoy the man's supporting work in Adventureland and Smokin' Aces.

I agree. He's someone I enjoy watching but most of his movies are guilty pleasures because deep down we know they suck.

The man has an extremely likable on-screen persona and from the stories I've heard from friends, he's an amazingly nice person. Like, how can you hate the man?

However, the man (or his agent) can't pick a decent film for him to star in.

If versatile means he can pull off being the same basic character/personality in any film, regardless of genre, story, co-characters/co-stars, then yes, he is quite versatile.

Right now Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is king at action/comedy.

I can think of two people better Will Smith and Robert Downey, Jr.

Ryan Gosling and Leo come to mind for me. Brad Pitt has shown he can handle comedy and drama pretty well.

I like him, but versatile isn't what I would use to describe him at all. He's pretty much the same sarcastic wise ass in everything, even Green Lantern.

Good actor...who chooses to be in shit product. THOUGH...he does have good moments in bad movies.

Wolverine: Origins- Shit movie, great casting for the character and he did damn fine for what little he had there.

Smokin' Aces- He was solid in there..story was all over the place..but he did fine.

The rest..it's eh. Granted..a few like Adventureland..I haven't seen..but most of his filmography is shit.

Buried- It's all him pretty much..and it's solid.

Blade Trinity- Shit film, he was fine.
