He's a decent looking guy but seems to play the snide bachelor in almost every non superhero movie he does so his rise in popularity baffles me. Now, I'm seeing the commercials for The Change Up which I guess is basically two white guys switch bodies. I don't think I've ever gone out to see a movie intentionally because he's in it.

He's a very good looking, extremely likeable/bankable actor. Extremely charasmatic. His appeal is absolutely justified.

Extremely bankable cough: Amityville Horror cough: Green Lantern cough: and Definitely, Maybe tore up the box office.

His percentage of hits I don't think is that high. When I consider someone bankable I think Will Smith or Ben Stiller or even Adam Sandler.

He's not a very talented actor and an unmitigated bore on the big screen.

Some of us enjoyed watching him on TWO GUYS, A GIRL, AND A PIZZA PLACE, and have followed his career ever since.

He almost married Alanis, did marry ScarJo and was in People's Sexiest Man Alive lists in 2008 and 2009, and was awarded the top honor in 2010.... what else do you want? And he doesn't cost as much as Will Smith or Adam Sandler.

Yeah, he's no Matthew McConaughey, but I'd definitely want to hang out with both of them.

To call Ryan Reynolds "decent looking" really, really, really understates things.

You're surprised than an extremely good looking dude is a popular actor?

I think he's tapping Charlize Theron now, I honestly don't know where you go now unless you find a time machine and start banging 28 year old Monica Bellucci.

After that, 28 year old Raquel Welch would be my next stop.

What's to understand? He's a good-looking dude with natural charm.

The guy is good looking, can act pretty good if the role demands it, has got some wit and charm....

...seems like he's doing alright. I actually liked him Smoking Aces..though I don't like that movie. Pretty solid in Buried.

If they were still making traditional game shows, Ryan Reynolds would be the host of one of them. Since they're not, and Ryan Seacrest has all the jobs Reynolds might have qualified for, they made him a movie star instead. Go figure. If movies of the early '70s were cast like movies of today, Bob Eubanks would have played Serpico, Jim Lange would have played Popeye Doyle and Bob Barker would have played Patton.

[Full disclosure: I've never seen Ryan Reynolds in anything but movie trailers.]

I had to wiki this show because I've never seen it but Nathan Fillion was on it? Whoa.

Nathan Fillion is god-like on the internet. Now that is something I don't understand.

Re: Anyone else not understand the appeal of Ryan Reynolds?
Reynolds is likeable enough to guys(or at least not a turn off) and hot for the gals. Thats why he's popular. There are a select few that fit both categories.

Fillion is charismatic, but more importantly he's a fanboy at heart so his popularity is of the "one of us" mentality.

I'm not really a fan from what I've seen of him, but then I've only seen a couple of his movies.

Bill Simmons (ESPN writer) had a article on his new site Grantland about how manufactured Reynolds is as far as studios trying to push him as a big time leading man despite all of this movies being mediocre to poor.

Still, I like him; he's funny and witty, and can pull off being a super hero or action guy.
