70's Glam Rock

I just discovered Silverhead tonight- nice trashy sleaze rock, hilarious video below:

<iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/MACVaU-2whQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

who else should I look into? I know about the big bands like Slade, T. Rex, Sweet, early Japan, etc. I'm looking for oddities.

Re: 70's Glam Rock

yikes I knew of every single band mentioned and I don't really consider them too obscure or in some cases too glam but thanks for suggestions

yeah silverhead is strange but I like them. This song title is totally spinal tap haha

Re: 70's Glam Rock

While not an obscure band (early Motley Crue), this song is criminally underrated. They naturally shifted away from (70s) glam as time went on, but their first album was a pretty solid glam rock effort.

Re: 70's Glam Rock

This seems to be a pretty decent list overall with some stuff I never heard of that I have to look into:

Re: 70's Glam Rock

Here's a fairly obscure 70's Glam Rock band from Canada...

Thanks for the vid. I just spent over an hour investigating some of the more obscure cuts listed. Fun! I might not agree totally with this list, but they mostly stuck to early/mid-70's and none of that hair band nonsense (well, Hanoi Rocks... but I liked the song featured).

edit: Since I was surprised by that Hanoi Rocks song I started listening to their debut album. This is light years better than some of that late 80's crap. If I hadn't seen a photo of the band I would not have not put their look to their sound.

Re: 70's Glam Rock

Shite I just noticed that the lead singer of Silverhead is Michael Des Barre. Actor, musician and ex husband of super groupie Pamela Des Barre. He was on McGyver and replaced Robert Palmer in Power Station too.

He really is a Silverhead now:

There are some gems in there for sure, most notably for me was "Faith Healer" by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band.

Also, I picked up Silverhead's "16 and Savaged" LP last night for a few bucks at my local record shop. Good stuff

He really is a Silverhead now:

The Silverhead guitarist, Robbie Blunt, went on to be Robert Plant's guitarist and co-songwriter on at least the first three Plant solo albums.

Loved his guitar work on the first two albums. It's a shame Robert got rid of him.

Harvey Band was one of the bands that caught my eye for looking bizarre and having a sort of weird sound. I don't really know anything about them.

I think skyhooks would definitely fit the glam category

<iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/o7l8rlnMpCI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

and another Aussie band featuring ex ac/dc singer Dave Evans, Rabbit- hysterical band:

started listening to Alex Harvey Band a bit and I think they're pretty underrated. The mime guitarist is pretty badass
