Thanks for the heads up! I've been putting off getting the Film Noir Vol 5 set for a while, while I catch up on my backlog, but for $20 I'm in.

It should be noted this is from a marketplace seller, but is fulfilled by Amazon. Got it shipped 2 day with prime, and for once I didn't have to pay tax- bonus!

Yet another great bargain that makes up for what used to be the great DD summer sales.

I agree, that is tempting. I have been spending a fortune lately that I don't have though.......!

Big thanks on the noir collection 5! I thought 28 at the DD sale might be the best I'd see for a while. The reviews of most of this set are encouraging.

That's the cheapest I have ever seen the NOIR set, so I went for it. Unfortunately it was done one step away from the Warner Archive, so it has none of the bells and whistles of the past NOIR sets. I think the only extras are a couple of trailers and instead of nice individual cases with the original posters on the covers, it comes in a gatefold package (although I believe there is original ad art on the discs themselves and maybe thumbnails on the back of the set, ala the FLYNN ADVENTURES set). Still better than overpriced DVD-Rs!

They are not directly from amazon and are from third party sellers (says "Fulfilled by Amazon") which sucks for me, as many of them don't ship overseas.

It's important to note also that there are also major price drops from third party (fulfilled by Amazon for some) on the following titles:

- Forbidden Hollywood Vol. 1
- Joan Crawford Vol. 1 and Vol. 2
- Barbara Stanwyck Warner Signature

These are the lowest they have been. Joan Crawford did hit $19.99 New on Amazon one time back in 2009 but hasn't gone down since. So, I would definitely take advantage of these third party New at these prices.

Now all I need are the first two Bette Davis sets to drop down in price a little more and also the Jayne Mansfield set and I'll be very happy!

1. Film Noir 5 kept going down a few cents in price each day so it was $20.31 today.

2. Mad Men Season 4, it was my gold box special deal so I got it for $14.24.

3. Night of the Generals, which I was going to get on DD, was $7.49, cheaper than DD.

4. A pre-order of a Western double feature that's coming out from Shout Factory next week, Rio Conchos and Take a Hard Ride, for $8.99.

Just when I bought Forbidden Hollywood third party at $16.17, Amazon third party has it fulfilled for $15.71.

I keep waiting for a Warren Oates Signature Collection, or a Lee Van Cleef Signature Collection but so far, nothing. I've pretty much given up hope for a Jack Elam Signature Collection.

Were they Warner contract players? I didn't think they were... the signature boxsets were relegated to the stars in the studio system (pre-60's) but those 3 made their big break post 60's. (although you can find lots of Lee Van Cleef movies in public domain cheapie boxsets!)

I wonder if that FORBIDDEN HOLLYWOOD Vol. 1 will turn up at Big Lots eventually? For three movies it was always one of the most overpriced sets Warners ever released. I guess it's OOP now, but it was priced so high for so long, my guess is that they might have lots leftover for closeout prices.

Its the kind of thing that has turned up there but it is the luck of the draw. They had some of those TCM sets. I ended up buying some of them from marketplace sellers anyway cause I never found them at my stores.

Warner is dumping/price dropping a lot of these sets at this time. Most (possibly all) are coming from Warner Canada.

Got my FN V.5 set today. Disappointed to see them ship it in just a bubble mailer (box has a nice ding now).

And yes, it does have a Canadian sticker on the back, on the box, under the shrinkwrap. No bi-lingual indicia though.

WB doesn't release catalog titles on pressed DVD anymore. None of the studios do, although there is another Noir box coming from Sony.

TCM Greatest Classic Film Collection: Hammer Horror (Horror of Dracula / Dracula Has Risen from the Grave / The Curse of Frankenstein / Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed) can be had from Amazon Marketplace for $6 with Amazon Prime. There are 3 sellers that have this for less than $6 and all are Fulfilled by Amazon.

Has any one noticed that there has been a large increase in the number DVD titles from third party sellers of new DVDs which, though currently in a distributor's catalog, are no longer sold by Amazon (as opposed to Amazon only fulfilling from a third party's stock)?

The Controversial Classics Collection (7 titles) is only 29 bucks (regularly $80).
