How much do you have invested into your blu-ray/dvd collection?

Personally, its between $6-$7 thousand.

Over 10k... sigh.

I would say that it is around 3-4K, I haven't kept track but it could be higher. I also don't look at DVD's as an investment, that is foolish in my mind. The money that I spend on dvd's comes out of my entertainment budget.

I actually think it might be in between the first 2 missing money amounts (between 4-5K) based on trying to do some quick calculating/estimating, especially since I have a few coming in that I didn't add in to the money amount, but I went to the lower ($1000-$4000) just because of a few gifts, a few used DVDs, and a few $5-bin DVDs.

I'm not even sure anymore, but it's a helluva lot.

We've got over 4,000 titles, and if I were to just round 'em down to $10 each...that's...no way...it can't be...

probably around 20000ish. It's ridiculous if you think about it. But since i've been collecting for over 12 years its not as mind boggling as it sounds. I probably spent more in the first few years per year as i have in the last 4 total.

From a report done thru DVD profiler about $34,000.00

Going off my movie collectorz software that grabs prices for what it can find on amazon when I add the title, which means it'll miss more than a few, my grand total is: $120,873.17

A figure I will never, ever, show my wife if i ever hope to buy another movie.

Unfortunately before getting on this board I used to buy everything from Best Buy... so yeah, over 10k.

With the exception of a handful of ones that DVDAF didn't have, my collection's at about 4000.

I started collecting movies in the 90s, so it's not like I just started a few years ago.

Since I buy pretty much everything on the release date and closing in on 7,000 items @$15 per, that equates to over $100,000. Don't ask what I've spent in my lifetime on music and comic books, I'm a sick puppy

Well, I'm up to 140 or so Blus, I have around 1000 or so DVDs. Some of those have been sold, traded and replaced. I"d be shocked if I haven't paid around $20 - $25 k in the scheme of things. That's a scary thought.

Holy crap, if I ever wanted a bigger collection this thread has certainly cured me. I hate to even think about the opportunity costs of these figures vs. prepayment on a mortgage.

Are they still manufacturing laser discs or do you just buy used? I didn't think studios were making them anymore for new releases-

One of these days I'll need to print a report from DVD Profiler for insurance purposes but until then I don't want to think about what the price tag actually is. Suffice to say that I didn't pay nearly the list price DVD Profiler reports and there's no way I'd pay that much unless I had to... -kd5-
