Elysium - Blomkamp and Copley reunite for sci-fi project

Even without knowing the plot for this new film, I am fully onboard.
Deadline is reporting that District 9 writer/director Neill Blomkamp and star Sharlto Copley (The A-Team) are reteaming for Blomkamp's new sci-fi movie Elysium.
The site says that Elysium is "set in the far future on another planet and, like 'District 9,' is filled with many sociopolitical ideas wrapped up inside a Hollywood action film."
Blomkamp and Media Rights Capital are currently looking for a distributor, with Blomkamp including a graphic novel in his presentation to studios. District 9 was released by Sony's TriStar Pictures.

well....uhm...they're not connected story wise...right? So how would that be a DotD to his NotLD

In terms of quality, natch.
DotD and NotLD aren't connected storywise either, except that they take place in the same basic world.

Copley looks border line insane. He was a great choice for Murdock.

Matt Damon may be in early negotiations, per Deadline;
Matt Damon is in early negotiations to star in Neill Blomkamp's scifi film Elysium for Media Rights Capital. Damon will join District 9's Sharlto Copley in a film that is shrouded in secrecy. While a Damon commitment--they're in the early stages of deal making right now--will make Elysium a more enticing piece of business, MRC won't take it out to distributors until next year. It will come to the market when it has its major cast.

I didn't care for District 9 but Copley was great in it and A-Team.
I'll have to keep an eye out in case they roll out any more.

From Deadline: Sony to distribute Elysium. Also mentioned in article is that Syd Mead (Blade Runner) will do set design for the film.

To me, Neill Blomkamp is one of the most exciting directors to surface in the last few years. I hope this comes out soon.

I think District 9 is grossly overrated but I do admit I'm intruiged by this one.

I thought D9 was the top film that year. I'll hold off on annointing Blomkamp just yet though. Everyone remember Donnie Darko? Richard Kelly hasn't done much since his feature directorial debut.
