i've already seen some sites announcing devil foro december 28th, but i guess
wall street 2 will be a last minute announcement?

Some studios bank on smaller windows. usually Summit, Lions Gate, Fox, and Sony and sometimes The Weinstein co via Genius. the reason being is they know because of marketing campains and opening box office via buzz if its worth getting out onto DVD quick. Unstoppable will almost be forgotten once Harry Potter, Burlesque, Gullivers Travels, Tron Legacy, Narnia 3, Faster, How do you know, etc all open up this christmas. so getting it out fast into november would ensure that it would rent and sell well before the fourth quarter starts to drizzle onto home video this march.

a good example. back in the 80's and begining of the 90's Summer box office never actually started until Memorial Day weekend. slowly studios started to postiion big event movies, such as their studio tent poles a week before memorial, which became two weeks, and now Summer starts the first week in May. and their have been some examples of Studios moving their summer fare into April for the early jump start, such as Dave, Point of no Return, Kick Ass, Dragon: The Bruce lee story. etc.

i hope this helps those who were curious

Target.com has Jolene listed for November 23. I wonder if this is going to be one of their exclusives like My One and Only and Me and Orson Welles?

Re: DVD Talk New-To-DVD Theatrical Release and Discussion Thread

Like I said before, Salt Unrated edition is indeed going to feature all three versions of movie: Theatrical, Extended and Director's Cut. It is really hard for me to believe they can actually accommodate all three versions on just one single sided disc. I maybe wrong, but I think they are going to have a flipper disc for Unrated DVD. If that's true, then I have no interest in buying the unrated DVD. I will stick with the theatrical instead.

Can someone please confirm that?

Re: DVD Talk New-To-DVD Theatrical Release and Discussion Thread

I would think they would use seamless branching. There can't be THAT much difference between all 3 cuts.

I have the street date for My sould to take as 1/18, could change though

oh and i was advised on friday, that we are not allowed to street anything on 3/15 because Harry Potter 7A (Deathly Hallows part 1) is being released that date. and that if we choose to release Tangled around that date, that we should street it later in the month or early april. so Instead we are thinking of streeting "The Tempest" which is going into a limited release in december in late march, and moving "Tangled" to Mid April. Tron:Legacy is looking like it will be May.
