Re: Christian Bale
I'm sure it will be a two horse race between American Psycho and The Machinist. Since I saw neither, nor have I seen most of his filmography, I guess I can't vote.

Re: Christian Bale
I know all about the work behind it, especially Bale...it's just one of those films that I still haven't gotten a chance to see. I'm sure I'll like it. How's the BD of it btw? That's been in my cart for a while.

Re: Christian Bale
It's under $15 and probably worth $50. The movie is that good.

American Psycho. It was the first of his movies I saw and his performance was stellar. I re-watched it recently and his performance holds up well.
It came down to this and Rescue Dawn but I had to go with Pat Bateman.

Tough to say.
Though many of his movies have been some of my favorites from recent years, I find Bale rather lacking. He just seems kinda "one-note", you know? I wish he'd lose the harsh "over-the-top" delivery and try something a bit more subtle, so that we can see some more range from him...if he has it.

Although I was half expecting him to hunt down Colin Farrell and take an axe to his head

American Psycho, that role is almost iconic imo.

Re: Christian Bale
He was note-perfect in American Psycho, totally nailing the dry, wry tone of the book. Rescue Dawn comes in second. I thought he was pretty bad in the Batman films. American Psycho is his only comedy, correct? He's one of those guys like Sean Penn who gets knocked for their grim seriousness off-screen, and neither one has done many comedies on-screen. I haven't forgotten Spicoli, of course.
