This new western from Mexico looks pretty interesting. The trailer reminds me of a movie directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.

That trailer doesn't look very good at all. Then again, I guess it does remind me of There Will Be Blood, which I thought was horribly boring.

I hate overly political movies. This seems to be one.

Mexico's made lots of westerns. The few I've seen left little impression. I thought they were terribly talky. Just like their horror films. There are reasons why Mexican movies (horror, comedies, action, wrestling, westerns, musicals, melodramas, etc.) never caught on in the U.S. the way Italian, Hong Kong and Japanese genre films did. Spanish-language TV channels run them, but aside from a few horror films like DOCTOR OF DOOM, THE BRAINIAC, WRESTLING WOMEN... and the ones where Santo was renamed Samson, few were ever dubbed into English and released in theaters in the U.S.
