Fuck. You just know how messed up this genre has become when the first thing mentioned in the article is Taylor Lautner. I don't have the energy to bitch about remakes anymore, but they've got to be pretty close to running out of classic horror films to remake by now. Personally, I can't wait for the inevitable remakes of remakes!

Hopefully this film will be PG-13, have all the special effects and blood done with CGI and be in 3-D! Finally, a love triangle is a must.

my favorite werewolf movie...fuck everyone involved in this. epic fail.

What I don't understand is why they even have to "remake" these things, especially a simple story like An American Werewolf in London. Just tweak the story a bit (hell, make it two girls backpacking through Italy), add a few new plot points, and refer to the original as an inspiration. Unnecessary.

The original has its charms, but it has downright terrible creature effects. So at least they can improve upon that.

Really? I think the creature effects hold up astonishingly well, personally.

Anyway, the only way I think I could be be a potential advocate of this remake is if Edgar Wright were tapped to direct. He is very vocal about his love for the original and quite talented in his own right.

The original is a fantastic flick... great pacing, great effects, terrific performances, one of the best blends of horror and comedy, Jennifer Agutter , just so many perfect elements... I've loved this movie since I first saw it.

Just set it in another European City besides London or Paris. Even if they don't reference the other films, it can be though of as a loose sequel instead of a remake.

They should make it as "An American Werewolf in London after Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil Dead." Raimi can direct it and Eastwood can star as the title werewolf. I'd go see that. It'll be a new trend, mash several remakes in one movie.

Then it would just be a regular werewolf movie. American Werewolf in London had a very unique feel to it. I can't really put my finger on what made it unique--maybe it was the comedic aspect of it but it sets itself apart from the many other werewolf movies out there. I seriously doubt they'll be able to even come close to replicating the style, tone and feel of the original so my guess is that it'll turn out to just be another crappy werewolf movie.

I think the Twilight movies have done a good job at making werewolves less appealing. Add that to the fact that True Blood has them as well and there is no need to remake this movie aside from the obvious reasons.

I feel the anguish is due to the simple fact that the majority of remakes are insults to the original. While there *are* a handful of exceptions ("The Fly" and "The Thing" being the most referenced "good" remakes in the SF/Horror dept.) most are of the "Planet of the Apes" re-imagining variety. Pure dreck.

Would you like to see remakes of "Gone with the Wind", "The Maltese Falcon", "Casablanca", "Psycho", "Stagecoach", "Duck Soup", "Star Wars" (Lucas meddling not included), "Dr. Strangelove", "2001: A Space Oddysey", "Alien", or other "classics"?

I've often wondered why a classic is not "remade" word for word, scene for scene, using modern technology for the "improvement"... Oh, yeah... then it'd be a "rip off" film with nothing "original" added to the mix. Frankly, I'd rather see that than 95% of the remakes that have been served up.

Basically, "Hollywood" has screwed up remakes more often than not so hearing about *any* remake/reimagining is cause for concern, more so when it's a film you love.

But then... a remake, good *or* bad, can bring out a new audience for the original who may have never seen or heard of the original.

As for me? I'm skeptical simply due to the poor track record of the remakes in this genre that have come before.

The Weinsteins are also doing remakes of 'Hellraiser' and 'Children of the Corn'.

They've also greenlit another Zombie 'Halloween' movie.
