MTV Movie Awards (5/31/09)
Hi all,
So I'm typing this from the Universal Studios lot (next to the CSI production offices!), where we'll be airing the MTV Movie Awards live this Sunday at 9 p.m. ET. I'll be throwing up behind the scenes photos here to give you a sense of what's in store; thought it could be a fun little thing to do.
It's shaping up to be a pretty cool show (much cooler than last year, I think personally). In no small part to Andy Samberg being the host.
Presenters include: Chris Pine, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Brüno, Shia LaBeouf, Zac Efron, Denzel Washington, Cameron Diaz, Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, Sandra Bullock, Vanessa Hudgens, Leighton Meester, Jonah Hill, Lil Wayne, Sienna Miller, Channing Tatum, Bradley Cooper, Abigail Breslin and Danny McBride, among others. Musical performances by Eminem and Kings of Leon. Exclusive clips from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, GI Joe, Transformers 2 and New Moon.

Here's what the stage looks like:

As an aside, we stumbled onto this tucked into a super super dusty corner of the Universal lot.

One of the few shows on MTV I still make a point to watch, sounds cool. My only real complaint with the MTV Movie Awards are the shameless summer movie plugs that AREN'T entertaining. If it's fun I don't have a problem with it, even if it is an obvious plug. But when they aggressively push some movie with an unfunny bit (see anything from The Love Guru last year) it's excruciating to watch.

And they ditched that "Best Summer Movie You Haven't Seen" category which resulted in far too many plugs.

The promo last night about pulling for the Lakers was clever.

You sold me with Bruno! But I'm dreading the thought of sitting fast forwarding through 3 hours of Twilight promotion to see him. Gotta love dvr!

This is the first I've ever seen of one of these MTV shows, & I just walked into a room with it on & actually laughed my ass off. Maybe I'm stupid but was that shit with Bruno scripted? Was this a planned thing? Was it part of an earlier skit? B/c I can't imagine that M&M could agree to have some dudes taint in his face, & he looked pisses. My friends said it had to be planned.

Epic ballad version of Jizz in my Pants was great.
Usually, they're letting more fly this year.

Re: MTV Movie Awards (5/31/09)
I may be wrong but I think the awards are selected by the viewing audience (online voting and the like), which explains most of the picks. I can't remember the last time I watched MTV outside of Nitro Circus.
The cast of Twilight looks stoned out of their collective mind.
