Re: MTV Movie Awards (5/31/09)
By the way, did anyone notice that Megan Fox did not want to be there at all. The host, Sandburg or Samburg or whatever; invited her to join in on the opening dance and she refused. Then when they were introducing the clip to Transformers 2, both her and Bay had very little energy to pump it up. Tyrese was the only one who really cared about it.
Oh, and I got to say now that this to add more critique to the fire:
This felt like a Saturday Night Live parody with some of the SNL crew showing up to do "gags' and then the "digital shorts" songs that I don't even care for anymore. Granted the MTV Awards are not as revered in Hollywood but its a chance to earn a rare honor like Best Kiss and Best Fight.
I love fun awards shows like Spike's Sceam Awards where the audience and celebrity just go crazy for one night. The MTV Movie Awards used to be like that until last night. Since the annoying Twilight series is going through to 2011, I can hedge a bet on the winners for 2009's, 2010's, and 2011's Best Kiss, Best Fight, Best Actress, and Best Movie awards.
Oh, and I think this is the first year that the Generation Award winner was completely "roasted" instead of toasted. I know they did poke fun at Tom Cruise, Mike Myers, and Adam Sandler but the Ben Stiller presenters just did it as one long joke. Even the audience stopped laughing by the time Sutherland was "crying."

I'm hearing this may have been the case - because obviously it was planned that Bruno would come down into that seat and Em would have known that before hand - but the nearly bareassed 69 was probably a surprise.

UPDATE on the Eminem-Bruno brouhaha at last night's MTV Movie Awards and whether it was staged or not: A source tells E! Online's Marc Malkin that Eminem was aware that Brüno (Sacha Baron Cohen) would be falling on him — but not while wearing a butt-baring thong. And though Eminem got up as soon as he could get Bruno off of him and stormed out of the Gibson Amphitheatre, the hip-hop star didn't leave; he hung out in his trailer until the show was nearly done, says E!.

Bruno is a character by Sacha Baron Cohen, the guy that did Borat and Ali G. He's basically a gay australian reporter and has a movie coming out this summer.

So, I'm watching the rerun of this right now and I have a question. Were you guys seriously excited about this Samberg guy (I had no idea who he was) or were you just kidding? Cos he really sucks. The show overall is crap but he really sucks.

I like Samberg a good deal, but he didn't make much of an impression last night.

I never understood how he got popular either. As far as SNL goes, Bill Hader > Andy Samberg.

I just saw Keifer Sutherland bawling over Ben Stiller. If only the rest of this show was half as funny as that was.

Jim Carrey won something? I didn't notice.
I just saw Kings Of Leon. Very generic sounding band.

Nevermind, I just saw. I liked him in Yes Man but I think Steve Carell should have gotten the award.

Yes man was sort of funny but I wouldn't say he gave a hilarious performance. I thought Poehler was hilarious, Carell was better and Franco should have walked away with it.

Just watched this clip on YouTube. Jebus, I just felt embarassed for everyone involved.
Don't really see the point of griping about what won though. When most of your audience is between 12 and 18 yrs old, of course they're going to vote for the most mindless 'forgotten about in a year' crap.
