Rancid "Let the Dominoes Fall" 3 Disc Set $11.99 Pre-Order @ Amazon
I don't know if there are any other Rancid fans out there, but this is a great deal! The set includes the new CD, a bonus CD with 11 Acoustic tracks, and a "Making Of" DVD along with posters and guitar picks.
"A ready-made punk classic that'll take its place beside "And Out Come The Wolves" as a touchstone of the genre. The new songs show a lyrical depth perhaps best shown in two tracks that center the album, "Civilian Ways" and "The Bravest Kids". Punk has often seen the world as "us vs. them", but with these songs - a sensitive portrait of a returning serviceman and a loving tribute to those who serve - Rancid show an empathy for working Americans that recalls Springsteen or Petty. Formats include regular CD, double LP, and expanded version. The expanded edition contains the regular CD, the Let The Dominos Fall acoustic CD, The Making Of The Seventh Record DVD, three foldout posters, and four guitar picks. Produced once again by Brett Gurewitz (Bad Religion, Pennywise, NOFX)."

The stuff I've heard sounds like Rancid. As long as it isn't Life Won't Wait, I'm satisfied that I'll like it.

Just picked this up yesterday and have listened to it a couple of times. I really love Rancid, but this album is almost as forgettable as Indestructible. There's a few pretty great songs here, but a whole lot of mediocrity. Tim Armstrong's drawl has almost become a parody of itself and there aren't nearly enough killer Matt Freeman bass lines. Overall, the majority of the vocals on this album just sound like the band is bored. I do like that they've brought ska back into their sound ("Up to No Good" is my favorite track at this point). I'm sure more of the album will grow on me with subsequent listens, but at this point I don't know how many more times I'll actually want to listen to it.
At any rate, I'm sure people who liked Indestructible will like this as well. I just find it disappointing that the band took 6 years to put out an album this bland. As a side note, anyone who likes the ska songs on this album should check out the solo album Tim Armstrong put out in 2007...great stuff.

I remember seeing one of Tim Armstrong's bands (Transplants?) open up for someone else at a show I went to a few years ago and all he did was prance around the stage acting like a drunk, stupid dumbass. Haven't been able to take anything he is involved in seriously since then.

I listened to it a couple of times today and liked it. Not every song was great, but the vast majority were really good. Definitely better than the new Green Day album, which I got the same day. I hope they've gotten this "concept album" thing out of their system now.
