DVD Talk review of 'Slumdog Millionaire'

I read Thomas Spurlin's DVD review of Slumdog Millionaire at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=36798 and...that "Special Features" screen cap you have sure makes me and I am sure others .

you wouldn't know this Thomas given your review copy actually had the special features, but it seems retail versions got nil. big clusterf*** by FOX.

Good review too!

I thought it was the opposite: retail had the extras but the rental market got stiffed.

that was how it was supposed to be, but it seems all retailers got the standard discs formatted for rental, but with all the "Special Features" listed on the cover art. when people get home tonight, me included, you'll hear more about it in this thread... http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-talk/55...gram-info.html or this...http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-talk/55...31-2009-a.html

Yeesh. Of all the releases that could've been a testing ground for Fox's new "no supplements" rental copies, it fell on the crowd-pleasing, high-demand Best Picture Oscar winner. Hopefully a replacement program will be implemented and relatively painless.

Thanks for reading, Scott.

As I've expressed in the other Slumdog thread, I sure hope this kills Fox's no-features rental concept dead in its tracks. I also consider it bad karma for all the terrible films they've put out recently and all the great shows they've canceled...

So, were the Blu-Ray rentals also supposed to be special feature free?

I got "Slumdog" Blu-ray from Netflix yesterday - having heard about Fox's plans - and was surprised to discover that all the special features were present and accounted for.

No, Fox only made one version of the Blu-ray, so whether rented or purchased, you would see the special features...
It was only supposed to be rental DVDs that would be missing the special features, but somehow they screwed up back at the plant and put many of these special-featureless discs out to retail apparently....

Watch Slumdog Millionaire in the theatres, thats the best way to watch a wonderful masterpiece like this. I hope the Blu-ray does justice to the film.

Strange that there is no review of the blu-ray on this site.

John's review is coming up shortly. DVD Talk traditionally receives Blu-ray copies from Fox the week of release.
