Cool cover art but they really shouldn't have just put that it won Best Picture. It should have said something like "Winner of 8 Academy Awards Including...BEST PICTURE" as that isn't right that the producers get the credit and not the Director or anyone else. But cool cover art none the less. However, I haven't seen the movie yet but I've been hearing rave reviews about it so I'll probably end up blind buying it. T4P Dustin!

The art shown, while representative of the final art, is probably "promo" art used to advertise the movie in store circulars. This means the "Best Picture" text is probably artificially enlarged so that even if the image is printed small readers can still see the strip. On the final art, it will probably have the number of awards it one, "including Best Picture".

I agree...I dont think the Best Picture banner should've been as big. Hopefully they fix that before its released

Re: Slumdog Millionaire <><> 3.31.2009

I got hold of the retail DVD early. Even if the back of the case lists quite extensive extras (same as those listed by thread starter), they are actually nowhere to be found on the disc. No trace of them in the menus. Very odd. I wonder how Fox could have screwed up this, as the disc clearly was intentionally authored to have no extras. Mixup with that no-extras-on-rentals plan Fox had, perhaps.

or maybe you didn't actually get the retail version and wherever you got it got some version early for a reason. i am sure come 3.31 they will be fine.

It's the retail version (UPC code 024543574415).

I checked more than one, and they were all the same.

this could end up being a problem because dvdbeaver is reporting the same issue.

In all likelihood the reviewer at DVDBeaver was probably sent that version by Fox. I wouldn't expect the packaged final version to have that problem.

Re: Slumdog Millionaire <><> 3.31.2009

DVD Beaver gets DVDs early, not due to screeners from the studio, but because they're located in Canada and there's "less" of a street date to enforce for the US discs (same for customers who live overseas importing R1 DVDs, the moment the importers get the disc, they start selling them immediately).

If retailers have broken street date on Slumdog and it's been reported that the discs are the "rental" versions, this isn't an issue Fox can fix by March 31st; there will most likely be a exchange or recall.

Considering it's FOX, I'm actually not surprised.

23 minutes? that's it. man, it seems like i've seen more making-of footage than that on Access Hollywood already.

Re: Slumdog Millionaire <><> 3.31.2009

2 feature length audio commentary track running 2 hours each = 4 hours
over 30 min. of deleted scenes
22 min. making of
+ however long that cutdown featurette lasts.

ehh...i don't count commentaries in runtime for features. from what i gleaned on Access Hollywood, i really thought a lengthy making of doc was gonna be with this release. oh well, still gonna try and get it.

Re: Slumdog Millionaire <><> 3.31.2009

IGN.com has their review up. looks pretty good.
Extras and Packaging

This single-disc release comes in a standard black plastic case boasting the film's original artwork. Extras include:
•Commentary with Director Danny Boyle and Actor Dev Patel
•Commentary with Producer Christian Colson and Writer Simon Beaufoy
•Slumdog Dreams: Making Of Featurette (23 minutes)
•Slumdog Cutdown Featurette (6 minutes)
•Deleted Scenes (33 minutes)

bit skimpy, 2-disc no doubt eventually, but i will take it.
