Question for the Panny DMP-BD35/DMPBD30K

Does anyone know if either of these models will play unauthored MPEG-2 files? Thanks.

I don't know the answer to that, but I've been looking to get a DMP BD35K, and the price has skyrocketed over the weekend. Last week it was available on Amazon for $299, today it's $429. WTF is up with that?

the next model up, the BD55, also went from $340 to $400, and it's now at $700. MSRP is $399.

For the BD35, the MSRP is $299. if people are selling it for more, I'd suggest just waiting for the new model, which should probably be out soon.

Yeah, the BD60 is coming out some time this spring, and it will replace the BD35K. I guess Panasonic simply isn't sending many of the older model to stores. I'll just wait.

A poster at AVS claimed to have been told that there will be no more 35s or 55s shipping. And it's at least 2 months til the 60/80 come out. Gonna be a slow winter for Panny BD sales.

Sears has the DMP BD35K listed at $299 before $50 off in their circular.

I've never tried. With RW tech, there just doesn't seem to be a need in my thinking, so I don't have any to try.

You said unauthored discs. Reminds me of +RW. Or even RAM.

Yeah. Sorry, I don't have that option with DirecTV's various DVRs, so I just make normal DVDs. Or play files on my computer directly to the screen.
