I've heard great things about her performance in this.

IMDB Plot summary: A woman's life is derailed en route to a potentially lucrative summer job. When her car breaks down, and her dog is taken to the pound, the thin fabric of her financial situation comes apart, and she is led through a series of increasingly dire economic decisions.

I can't wait to see this since it has one of my favourite actors in it: Will Patton. The film opens here in DC at the beginning of next month (January).

I saw it in Toronto. I appreciated Old Joy more, but still enjoyed it. Michelle Williams really disappears inside her role for this one.

I'll probably see it just to check out her performance...otherwise, the reviewers haven't been too kind to this little film...I keep hearing how overwhelmingly boring and pointless it is and that there just isn't enough character development. Still wanna see it though!

Maybe not in your area, but overall reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. With about 55 reviews, 85% have been positive, most extremely so.

Just re-watched Wendy and Lucy - great little film. I've read the short story Train Choir (this is the basis for W&L), and though the story does provide a little more detail, IMHO the film is much better - the scenes of small-time Oregon life are nice, and I also like the far shots of Wendy walking alone (or with Lucy) through the deserted landscape, which IMHO was intentional - since it emphasized her isolation.

Also a big fan of Reichardt's Old Joy (2006), and it's interesting to note that the dog Lucy is the same one in both films.
