<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/AVyGCxHZ_Ko" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Release Date Aug 11, 2017
Directed by Josh and Benny Safdie
Starring Robert Pattinson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Barkhad Abdi, and Benny Safdie

Following the mind-bending Heaven Knows What, celebrated filmmakers Josh and Benny Safdie return to the mean streets of New York City with Good Time, a hypnotic crime thriller that explores with bracing immediacy the tragic sway of family and fate.

After a botched bank robbery lands his younger brother in prison, Constantine "Connie" Nikas (Robert Pattinson) embarks on a twisted odyssey through the city's underworld in an increasingly desperate—and dangerous—attempt to get his brother Nick (Benny Safdie) out of jail. Over the course of one adrenalized night, Connie finds himself on a mad descent into violence and mayhem as he races against the clock to save his brother and himself, knowing their lives hang in the balance.

Anchored by a career-defining performance from Robert Pattinson, Good Time is a psychotic symphony of propulsive intensity crafted by two of the most exciting young directors working today. Josh and Benny Safdie’s transcendent vision is an intoxicating portrait of desperation and destruction that will not be soon forgotten.

The stigma from the Twilight movies is unfortunate, because Pattinson is really a hell of an actor.

I think that stigma is mostly gone, not because he's made a name for himself, but because I think Twilight has been largely forgotten by everyone but the fans.

This was a visual treat with an awesome soundtrack but I'm at the age where it's getting tiring to see movies about sociopaths who have no greater purpose than bettering themselves.

Recommended.

This goes wide this weekend. A decent amount of theatres near me playing it. I think I'll check it out tonight or tomorrow.

Saw this last night and loved it. It's like the film from the 80's that Abel Ferrara never got around to making. The score was incredible and up until now I sincerely thought Robert Pattinson was a lousy actor. This film says otherwise. He was great. This movie has flown way the fuck under the radar, I don't know why though. It was a hell of a movie. A movie that I knew not a single thing about before watching it.

He is a very good actor. And if Twilight didn't exist and he just burst on to the scene this year, people would be incredibly impressed with his work in this and The Lost City of Z... two entirely different roles.

I wanted to give this thread a bump.

It is on my best of list for the year. I saw a few others mention it too. I'm hoping this will be added to Prime soon, as A24 films usually are, so more can see it.

Pattinson is fantastic in this movie.

Re: Good Time (2017, D: Safdie Brothers) S: Pattinson, Leigh, Safdie, Abdi

Saw this a couple of months ago. The acting is superb (going in cold, for the first couple of minutes in the shrink's office I thought I was watching a documentary; Peter Verby and Benny Safdie are great), as are the technical aspects. Ultimately I found the film just this side of good, mainly because it meanders and ends up not going anywhere interesting. So, the script is at fault for the film's insufficiency, as is usually the case, but it's still worth seeing. If I were Siskel & Ebert, I would give it a marginal thumbs-up (2.5/4).

Robert Pattinson has never shown me he was a great actor until now.

Yea...I had a lot of problems with this. First off I didn't like any of the characters. This just may be me but I sort of need to want to root for someone in a film like this or root for them to die. I got neither in this. Acting was good as others have stated but WTF with Jennifer Jason Leigh's character?

As Norm said above it really didn't go anywhere interesting. He ended up where he belonged in the end. I wanted him to
Spoiler:
die a horrific death however
but oh well.

An intense modern day gritty urban drama that reminded me in some ways of 1970’s Lumet, Friedkin & Scorsese.

4/5

JJL charecter is a very realistic type of charecter but a kind of charecter you seldom see in movie's. I have known woman with the toxic resentful relationship's with their parents desperately looking for a romantic partner to save them who never will.
