Am I the only one who actually loves "Chicago"?
I know everyone on here trashes it for a variety olf reasons. I just love this movie. the songs are great, and i love the style of the movie. also this is the one movie that i can actually tollerate Richard Gere too. He's brilliant in it.

I like the film, it's a well made piece. I think Richard Gere is the weakest part of it oddly enough. Though I'm no Gere fan, in fact this is one of two films I've seen him in. I like the film as a whole. The music and dancing is great, it's a entertaining film to see. I've never really understood the hate for it, I don't think it's as great as it was heralded. I do find it to be too much of an excess with it's visual production. I give it a B.

I didn't care for it at all. For some reason the songs and plot just didn't click for me. I haven't seen this since it first came out on DVD though, so I should probably give it another go sometime.

The movie works brilliantly - it captures the feel of the Broadway show, but in cinematic terms. As a big fan of Broadway musicals and film musicals, I was not sure they would pull it off, but I was completely satisfied.

"What am I doing here? They say that my famous tenant held down my husband and I chopped his head off. But it's not true, I'm innocent. I don't know why Uncle Sam says I did it. I tried to explain at the police station, but they didn't understand me."

I hate musicals in general but I really enjoyed Chicago. Very well made, briskly paced and overall just incredibly likable -- this despite the fact it's about murderers (actually I think that's one aspect that adds to it).

I had no desire to see it, but my wife liked it so I watched it with her and was surprised how much I liked it. Same goes for Moulin Rouge. Granted, I think love may be too strong, but I definitely liked it.

Nope. I liked it too. I've been really enjoying the return of the Musical over the past several years.

Liked it a lot, saw it twice at theatres, a few more times on DVD and also have the soundtrack.

I never would have classified myself as a musical fan before seeing the movies above. In order of preference, it would be Moulin Rouge, Chicago, and Hairspray, but I loved the first two, and liked Hairspray.

I picked it up on DVD when it was first released and I really enjoyed it, though I haven't had a chance to re-visit it since. I'm not a huge musical fan, some work for me and some just don't (I couldn't stand Sweeney Todd).

Love it - probably the best musical to screen adaptation. They took advantage of things you can only do in movies (cutting from scenes in one costume to scenes in another and back) but it still felt like a Broadway show.
Pretty much awesome from beginning to end.

Same here. This was one of the few musical to movie adaptations that I liked.

Count me as another one who really liked this movie and actually saw it more than once at the theater.
I wonder how many people around here who are so hateful toward it are dismissive of musicals as a whole as well.
