Whatever Works (Woody Allen, 2009): Larry David, Evan Rachel Wood

The movie stars Larry David as a highly eccentric character who runs into a girl from the South named Melodie, played by Evan Rachel Wood. The two of them, joined by Melodie’s mother and father, “get into a series of highly improbable, far out, romantic entanglements.”
Larry David and Woody Allen? Sounds like a match made in comedy heaven.

Wow, why didnt I think of these two teaming up? Larry David and Woody Allen? This movie could be about a Pog Tournament and I would be in.

Indeed it does.
Sounds great. Larry David is awesome. Hopefully him and Woody do more features after this one. Wonder if this'll be at all like Curb.

I'm sold. Although I almost wonder if Larry David and Woody Allen will cancel each other out.

Is Woody Allen in the movie, too?

Even if he isn't, I gotta jump on the bandwagon, that is a dream team. Sold.

From Variety:
Sony Pictures Classics has bought U.S. rights to Woody Allen’s next film, “Whatever Works.” The Gotham-set comedy will be released in the summer. “Whatever” stars Larry David, Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Begley Jr. and Patricia Clarkson. Allen wrote and directed the film, which is produced by Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum. “It was great to be back in Manhattan shooting a comedy,” Allen said. “Especially with such a gifted cast.”

This is the first woody allen movie i've ever looked forward to seeing. It's like a film starring Jackie Chan & Jet Li together, or Robert De Niro & Al Pacino, or Charlie Chaplin & Harold Lloyd.

I think my friend was an extra who rides a bike though a shot or something.

Yep just checked IMDb - he is a Flea Market Buyer / Bicyclist (uncredited). A true-life Kramer moment.

After Vicky Cristina Barcelona I'm in for more Allen, especially with Larry David's involvement.

So I wonder if Patricia Clarkson will be able to pull a Dianne Weist/Mira Sorvino/hopefully Penelope Cruz.

Re: Whatever Works (Woody Allen, 2009): Larry David, Evan Rachel Wood

I've seen several people say they're not fans of Woody Allen. While saying his movies are all masterpieces would be a huge stretch, saying you're not a fan of Allen is like saying you're not a fan of Hitchcock. I would say that Woody Allen is possibly one of the great directors. Am I misunderstanding when you say you're "not a fan"?
