Election (Broderick, Witherspoon) Blu-ray- 1/20/09

From www.Blu-News.com

Paramount has announced Election for a January 20th Blu-ray release. The film stars Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick.
Oh man...I LOVE this movie! I was just looking at my DVD wondering how long it would be for this one...time to dump my DVD!

Wouldn't you know it - I just saw this for the first time on rental and decided to buy the DVD a few months ago. At least it was cheap.

And gasp! - a catalog title from Paramount.

"I also like bananas."

A nice surprise for a catalog title, Payne's best besides Sideways. Career-high performances from Matthew Broderick and an Oscar-snubbed Reese Witherspoon.

The sex scene where Reese keeps popping up superimposed on his wife's head KILLS me. As does the Leone homage at the end.

Love this movie, but not sure if if there will be a big enough difference in PQ for the upgrade. Guess I'll wait and see.

The DVD is from 1999 so I'm hoping this means they'll have to do a new HD transfer.

I wish...

FYI, the coverart is the same as the DVD re-release from a few years back...with Reese and Broderick standing next to the locker with a Pick Flick button. Bleh.

Excellent news. One of the most underrated movies of 1999. And eerily prophetic about the 2000 Presidential election(imagine Reese as Gore and Chris Klein as Bush).

You said it! And I love everything Payne has done. Great great news. I hope the PQ is worth the upgrade. I, too, will wait and read the reviews first. Been burned so many times with older titles.

This news is very surprising, but I absolutely love this film so I'm happy. Now bring out the rest of Payne's films, too.
