Hellboy II: The Golden Army BLU-RAY 11/18/08

A retailer advertisement released today confirms Hellboy II: The Golden Army is not only Blu-ray bound, but will come in two different skus with dramatically different prices and features.

A two-disc collector's edition will come packaged in limited edition lenticular packaging and include a Comic Book Builder tool that may or may not be exclusive to Blu-ray, a digital copy of the film and access to Universal's "BD-Live Center." That set carries an SRP of $39.98.

For $64.98 you can get all of the above plus a limited edition Golden Army statue and an Excerpt from the Journal of Guillermo Del Toro housed in a journal replica.

Both sets will include over three hours of supplemental features and be available on November 18. We won't know additional specifics until Universal makes an official announcement in the weeks ahead.

Getting it for sure. I only got to see this one once in the theatre (because Dark Knight rocked too much and then this was gone) and the projection was shitty the showing I did see, so I can't wait for the disc to see it properly.

Will definitely get this but am leaning toward just the two-discer. The journal and the statue don't seem that enticing to me.

I will be buying this one as well. There's a couple of very slow parts, but it's definitely entertaining enough to own. And I can't wait to hear the dts HD MA audio.

Outstanding! Wow, November has so many terrific releases. I guess I'll push some purchases back to December so Santa can hook me up

Probably will get the 2-Disc version.

Would've been cool if the Special Edition had the Blu-Ray discs somehow housed in the journal.

That does look sexy indeed. I ended up not seeing it in theatres, but I will definitely get this. Probably the more cost efficient 2-disc set for me.

Opposite for me, while I don't typically go for these sorts of collectible items (they just end up collecting dust), the journal and statue in this instance seem pretty cool to me.

Yeah, but like "Iron Man" it's a BD-Live title, so they can add that later.

Now if CH will hurry up and add it as a pre-order before their B1G1F Blu-Ray sale ends.

For $64.98 they should put a little statue of me in there.

I think I'll go for the [relatively] cheaper version.

The regular Blu-Ray Cover is horrible, and the set has a cheap plastic toy. Neither are worth it.

You guys do realize the cover is lenticular right? I think it shows that image and one from the comic book.

I imagine that not so good Wanted art will be that way too, which, in the end, means it'll probably look quite nice.

I picked up my copy this morning from Target for $26.99. The lenticular cover is pretty cool. The image does show the comic version switching to the movie version of Hellboy's face.
