Mister Lonely (Harmony Korine, 2008)

Trailer | IMDB | RT: 57% | April 30, 2008 (Limited)

In Paris, a young American who works as a Michael Jackson lookalike meets Marilyn Monroe, who invites him to her commune in Scotland, where she lives with Charlie Chaplin and her daughter, Shirley Temple.

This looks interesting but it is getting some pretty awful reviews.

It couldn't possibly be worse than "Julien Donkey-Boy"

Korine is hit or miss. "Gummo" was interesting only because it was so ridiculously fucked up, whereas "Julien" was just a flat out bore.

That said, I enjoyed the shit out of "Kids" and "Ken Park" (probably because Korine only served as writer and not director) so I'll probably netflix this movie.

That's funny, I think Gummo is unwatchable and Julien Donkey Boy is completely brilliant.

This is a must see for me. Although with such a promising premise I am probably going to end up being disappointed.

This is an underrated gem of a film that has completely fallen through the cracks. Just revisiting it now for the first time since it came out. What a beautiful film.
