Interesting set up. If they're going to get us to where I hope they will, it seems like they have a lot of ground to cover in an hour next week.
It hadn't occurred to Hawkins that the guy on the phone had a way of tracking the bomb?

The preview for next week said season finale.
Did the guy who played Jake's dad leave on bad terms? Seems like a no brainer to have him give Jake the pep talk.
Anyways, I hope for another season. The Civil War/Revolution is pretty good.

I agree about Jake's dad. In fact, when watching the first scene with the grandfather, I thought it sounded like it was probably written for Jake's dad, but maybe they couldn't get him or something...kinda obvious that it was supposed to be a big surprise to the viewer. Instead, you're left going, "Hmmm...I seem to remember him from a flashback episode..."

"Everybody who was in the show last year, except for Gerald McRaney, is back," added Barbee. "And we actually tried to get 'Mac' to come back, but he's doing a play in New York and literally had one day off and we just couldn't fly him back. We couldn't do it. But everyone else is back, so stick with us."

Thought Beck's actions in this one seem to be against the character they have developed this year. He just went so extreme so fast, especially since he knew what happened, even from the J&R perspective I'm sure Cass would have been available to explain things.
Would have been nice to Major Dad back, but I'll never complain about David Huddleston. They even found an at least semi-effective way to bring back Pamela Reed, and I couldn't stand her character last year.
Liked seeing Jimmy all gung ho. Just kind of struck me as funny.
Hope they can find an effective way to give us some sort of conclusion next week. Going to miss this show now.

So it seems obvious what the scenario might be if they choose to air the series finale scene next week? It would definitely be going to the point of no return if they did choose that route.

The quality of this episode was hurt by the need to quickly advance the storyline. The pace just never felt right. And next week will have to cover even more ground in 60 short minutes. Last week's episode may turn out to be the best of the entire series. Still, looking forward to next week's episode.
Regarding the grandfather flashback, I think he was the better choice to give the pep talk. There had been a period of alienation between Jake and Major Dad, which wasn't totally healed. And those old guys are more convncing on that history/patriotism/war/duty stuff.

I thought Jake's grandfather was a better choice given the set up from the first season with their relationship, personally.
Felt more like an episode to get to the next one. Hopefully the payoff is good.

If Jericho was airing on cable, 5M+ viewers per week would be awesome numbers. However, anything under 10M for CBS and it's pretty much a goner.
I'm still baffled that Jericho peaked at over 11M viewers in November of 2006 and now almost 6M Nielsen viewers bailed on the show since then.
They have so much ground to cover in only 44 minutes or so (minus commercials) for next week's season/series finale. I really hope the payoff will be good and not feel rushed.

I'm not. It seems rather clear that many people didn't go for the direction of the show in the first half of S1. Then the long midseason break probably didn't help matters.

Yeah you are right. If season 1 were 13 episodes instead of 22, then maybe they could have tightened up some of the story arcs and made it more compelling. I do think that Hawkins is probably one of the most fascinating characters on the show. For a relatively unknown actor prior to this show, Lennie James was a great find and I hope he gets more offers after this show wraps up.

If they didnt give the show such a ridiculous timeslot, maybe it would have done better. Its been so good these last few episodes and I hate to see it go.
Maybe Hawkins will get a spinoff.

I think the issue is that too much is going on the spring. I wonder what the ratings would have been in the fall. I get why everybody is going for the spring period, but somebody eventually needs to settle on 10 episode seasons and air their show in the fall.
