Smallville -- "Hero" -- 3/13/2008

Synopsis:
Spoiler:
Pete Ross returns to town and finds a number of surprising changes since his departure. Besides resolving his feelings toward Clark since he learned of his friend's secret, Pete has to deal with the acquisition of a superpower of his own.

AFAIK there are four remaining episodes in the can after this...

2 episodes left from pre-strike, and 5 more are being written/filmed as we type.

Nice to have Pete back, even if kryptonite gum is ridiculous.

Giant Stride commercial. The Mr. Fantastic bit at Lionel's vault was lame - Pete's watch could fit through the space between the door and the jam? Surprised the special effects guys didn't catch that.

I normally don't complain about in-show advertising but this episode was just insane.

How the hell would kryptonite even get in the gum. The factory wasn't even in Smallville. It is just completely absurd.

It looks like nothing has changed for Pete. He usually had the stupid story lines when he was a regular, and he had a shitty one tonight.

Pete looked like he's aged 10 years since his last appearance. The hour-long Stride commercial was really stretching it (bad pun!).

Is Stride an actual gum? I guess so.

So was the point that the freak-power of the gum works like gum-flavor? Short-lived?

Wait, I won't get super power if I chew this gum (grumbling while tossing out a pallet supply of Kryptonite Stride).

This was just sad. I'd easily take a Clana story over this. Pete returns and is EXACTLY the same whiny punk as when he was last seen. Only serves to show how far Chloe has come. Nice to see Jimmy FINALLY return!

It is so getting time to start wrapping up this series when Stride gum is the lynchpin for you plot.

Worst episode since season 4. And definitely up there with the Fast and Furious Pete. He was always a decent character, but always saddled with the worst stories.

So Kara knows something's up and Clark & Lana still won't come clean? Give me a break. So Clark pushes another chick into the arms of Lex. How tired. This episode was just bad across the board.

The ONLY redeeming thing was Jimmy finding out Chloe is a meteor freak.

What a wasted opportunity. Pete seemed like a non-factor in this episode. It could have easily been written for anyone in Clark's past (if they aren't already dead!) who knows his secret. How many times has his cocky attitude and thumbing his nose at Clark landed him in hot water?

They should avoid filming Kara just below the shoulders and aiming the camera upwards, her face looks a little weird from that angle.

I thought he already knew and it was that Lex knew she was a freak that stunned him?

He did? Could be. I don't remember. That's what happens when you only show 3 episodes in four month span.

IIRC, and I don't watch this show all that often, that she came clean about being a meteor freak when they were stuck in the elevator in one episode.

As for Pete's vfx... ugh, worse than the Generation X movie a few years ago.

I wonder what kryptonite-laced gum tastes like...

I don't know, but for a gum that's supposedly "ridiculously long lasting", it certainly failed Pete when Lex and his goon beat the crap out of him.
