CJ7 - Stephen Chow's new film...

Here's the trailer - http://sg.video.yahoo.com/video/play?vid=1506695
Here's the website - http://www.cj7movie.com (not yet active)
IMDB has a listing for it as well...

I did a search for "chow" and didn't see this already posted, but there's a chance I just missed it. Sorry if this is a repost. Actually, it is a repost because I posted this in International DVD and was told it should be here - meh.

Anyway - I'm really excited about this one and it's supposedly pretty much wrapped up and looks like it should come out sometime in the next 6 months hopefully?

I think people new to Chow will bitch because it's not a soccer or hustle sequel... this looks more like a silly comedy like he used to do. I'm excited.

Looks good to me - we could use some laughs about now.

Wow, I've been hearing about him doing a sci-fi project for what seems like ages now. Good to see it's finally getting finished.

I love Stephen Chow, but the trailer for this isn't very appealing. Maybe they'll come up with a better one soon.

Trailers for his movies are typically pretty awful - with the exception of his last two (and even they weren't so great compared to the films). I have a feeling this will be pretty good for a family-oriented flick.

A new trailer is out:

It looks like there's a number of callbacks to his previous films.

Looks like it opened in Australia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong today. No dates for the US release.

I kind of thought it sucked.

I love Stephen Chow, Aliens, and kid movies, so it should've been a no brainer.

But somehow it disappointed.

I think for some reason there was a cut to this film and it should have been longer. I mean, as hot as Dicky's teacher is, I never saw her once teaching the kid anything. I think it needed a little more backstory (maybe in flashback or something) instead of a couple of lines.

Also, I mentioned this to a friend, I think this was the first I've seen in which Stephen Chow wasn't the main focus. And at times, while I felt for Dicky's situation, he seemed like an ungrateful little punk at other times.

I did like Dicky's dream sequence with CJ7. With homage to Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle.

Yeah the dream sequence was good, I also liked the cockroach sequence. And there was something cool about how torturous the kids were to the CJ7, something Hollywood would never do.

But I have pretty high expectations for Chow, which is why I felt let down.

You're not the only one, my friend was also let down. I felt it was ok, but I went in with little expectation.
