From Beyond Re-Release September 11

Coming on September 11 is the previously announced unrated director's cut of Stuart Gordon's classic From Beyond, for the first time ever on DVD. Today Amazon scored a first look at the cover art from MGM's upcoming release, which I'm sure is going to disappoint the lot of you. Read on for a looksie. In the film scientists create a resonator to stimulate the pineal gland (sixth sense), and open up a door to a parallel (and hostile) universe.

What an horrendous cover! I'm glad that the movie is finally being released though.

Already being discussed in this thread:

...and yes, I concur. An abysmal cover for a great movie...

Probably one of the worst covers I've ever seen. Fortunately the transfer is excellent, they've been showing it on MonstersHD for about a year. Looks great!

that's a great cover - that's essentially the initial one sheet (with some minor tweaks and retouching) that I'm been dying to find and add to my poster collection

where's the HiDef dvd version - remind me someone, would this be a BluRay or HD-DVD release? where does MGM stand on this respect?

So that leaves what, Bleacher Bums as the only unreleased Stuart Gordon flick? I'm not sure what else. Very exciting news.

One of the worst covers I've ever seen. Makes it look like a cheap direct-to-DVD flick. Let's hope fans can make a nice custom.

I don't see how anything is better than this:

DVDs are made to look like cheap airport paperbacks.

Exactly. It reminds me of a mix between the Metropolis and Dead Alive posters. How can you go wrong with that? The negative response is yet another example of boardies not knowing what they're talking about!

Yeah the cover isn't that bad, geez. I've seen much worse. I still prefer this one, though...

Amazon just shipped my copy of From Beyond. I can't wait to see it since I love Re-animator.

I nabbed it while doing receiving at the Best Buy I work at. The register let me buy it, so I took advantage.

How is the transfer? And is there a commentary track?

any word on a HiDef release - since Fox has gotten back on the bandwagon? With the wild off the wall colour scheme of the film - it would look extra trippy in HiDef.

Transfer is acceptable, given the fact of how old the movie is... yeah, there's a commentary track. I haven't heard it yet, though. I haven't watched the entire movie yet, because I want to hold off until Oct for the horror movie challenge

I’m not a huge fan of the cover either but I’m just glad From Beyond is finally getting it’s unrated version released. Stupid MPAA, who doesn’t like a little S&M every now & then, well…

I just got it in the mail today and watched it. It's a great, bloody film with some cool extras. Totally worth it.

Anyone else having trouble finding this?

It seems Best buy is the only store carrying this, and every single one around me is sold out. No copies at Wal-Mart or borders. Didn't check at "The store who name we don't speak of" and would rather just wait for a copy at BB.

man oh man, I'm itching to watch this, but I'm trying to save it for the October Horror film Challenge - might have to watch it tonight and listen to the commentary in October.

Wouldn't that actually mean Best Buy doesn't carry it? Mine didn't have any when they opened. I guess stores didn't expect to sell anything on 9/11...

No, Best buy lists it on their site. Also, I called the two local stores this afternoon and they stated they had gotten 2 copies, but that they were sold out.
