Spice Girls Reunion?

Could a comeback actually be happening? I don't know what else their announcement would be about. Awesome news.

LONDON (Reuters) - The Spice Girls are to make an announcement about their future plans next week, sparking speculation that one of the world's most successful girl bands is set to reunite for a new album and concert tour.

The Spice Girls sold more than 30 million albums and topped charts around the world before Posh, Scary, Sporty, Baby and Ginger decided to pursue solo careers with differing levels of success.

Geri "Ginger Spice" Halliwell left the group in 1998 and the other four quit in 2001.

"The Spice Girls are set to make an official announcement to the world regarding future plans on Thursday 28th June," their management said in a statement on Friday.

"No further information can be given at this time but given the band's unique history you can be sure to expect the unexpected," Simon Fuller's 19 Entertainment said.

I met Gerri at Balans restaurant in London (Kensington High Street) a few years ago. She was there with her dog Harry (!) and a friend. The dog was very small and sat next to her in the booth. Everyone knew who she was, but didn't bother her. But a few people, including myself, went over to pet Harry (no jokes ) Gerri was really nice and very pretty in person. Not a Spice Girls fan here, but I thought she was pretty cool.

Maybe it's me, but i'm not liking the "new" Gerri..

I prefer the old "boobilicious", kinda chunky Gerri..

Oh, and keeping OT with the Spice Girls...Eddie Murphy is Scary Spice's baby daddy.

The old Gerri is a million times hotter than that stick figure above her.

The only good that could possibly come out of this would be that since they're all together again some major catastrophe wipes them all out in one fell swoop. Really, do they think anyone cares right now? They were part of the 90's zeitgeist, a time I'm all too glad is over with, and therefore, they are no longer culturally relevant. They didn't even write good catchy crap, just plain ol' crap.

I like the new Geri. I saw Mel C in concert, she was good.

I'd go see them for sure. just to see posh spice and her bolt-ons in real life.

Their movie was one of the most fun times I've had in the theater.

Granted, we were pretty drunk, and aside from two other people we knew, the theater was empty.

Although I never bought any SG cd's I gotta admit that they were fun and their songs were pretty good.

It's funny, aside from that one slow song 2 become 1, I hated them with a passion but liked them as solo singers. Emma did some really goos 60's type music.

Not really, it was generic american r&b with that one nice Janet reject. Victoria is made out to be the laughing stock of the group solo wise when she had more solo success than Scary. Interesting fact is that Victoria is the only member without a #1 song.

Success-wise:

Geri
Mel C
Emma
Victoria
Mel B

Geri owes me a show!

My (then) g/f and I took her teenage daughter to her first concert.. The Spice Girls. Unfortunately, the show here was right after when Geri left the group. You'd think she could've finished the tour but Nooooooooo.

Anywho, Geri, if you're reading this.... you owe me a show. Please email me on when you can come over. Oh, have a few sandwiches beforehand. thnx.

I saw them right after Geri left...but then I met Geri at a promotional appearance for her solo record. she was nice... I used to love the spice girls and actually saw 'spice world' like 5 times (hate to admit it, but I was like 17, they were all hot - it seemed worth it). I'd be up for a reunion tour or something.

I remember seeing a little news snippet not too long ago that said Mel C wasn't going to do it. Did she change her mind?
