Kickboxer DVD - Where is the SE?
Hello Folks
I understand Kickboxer is not the best film in the world but the re-watch factor, for me anyway, is right up there. Many a beer and pizza have been consumed watching Van damme play "either my leg or you is going to break" with the tree.
I did have the original HBO DVD, but after a friend borrowed it from me, I have never had it back (a lesson I have learnt from) and I am having trouble finding a copy of the HBO DVD. Am I right in thinking this is the best version out there? The other DVDs I see for sale, are fullscreen and not getting my money.
My luck didn't stretch very far with Kickboxer 2 on DVD either. I bought the Dutch version, which was in the original aspect ratio and that hasn't been seen since I borrowed it to a friend either. The only good thing about the LG release of Kickboxer 2 seems to the original cover art. The dvd is a fullscreen release also. There have been runours of cut footage flying around, such as a tortorous training scene involving Tong Po etc. I wouldnt mind seeing them, but they are supposed to be locked away in the studio vault. Must be, because there has been no mention of it being available on any releases.
Does this have a chance of ever getting a SE??? I came across these pictures on a site recently, showing Tong Po's make up being applied and it go me thinking about a SE. I used to think of Tong Po as mean mofo back in the day.

DVD Talk God
The 1st movie came out in 1989 right? Maybe there's a shot for a 10th anniversary release then...but that's wishful thinking.
Lions Gate just released the Kickboxer collection for the entire series 2-3 years ago and it can easily be purchased for $20 bucks or less. And unfortunately all 5 movies are fullscreen.

Re: Kickboxer DVD - Where is the SE?
A German BD (region-locked) came out last month and apparently looks very good considering the film's age and budget. There's a Lionsgate logo at the beginning so the U.S. release will probably be using the same master.
