Someone Explain the Outer Limits set coming on June 5
What is this? Remaster? Repackaging?
I can't seem to find any details, but DVDEmpire lists it as "Volume 1" of the original show with a running time of 821 mins. That seems like only 1/2 of the first season.

From the linked review
As with the first release of The Outer Limits, eight episodes are put on one disc: four per side, and the same compression issues and aliasing are there: plenty of stair-stepping jaggies.

Yeah, the reason for this re-release is a complete mystery to anyone and everyone, especially since the original four disc set is still in print, AFAIK.
Still, I would like to get a re-release of the second season, as my current copy is one of the literally thousands of defective sets that came out of the second pressing of the original release. And I was never able to get a non-defective replacement, even after a half-dozen or so exchanges via DDD.
Hopefully, a new re-release will at least work correctly, as I don't wish to re-buy the original release again and find out I got yet another defective set.

It took me literally months and probably a dozen different S2 sets before I found one that actually worked.
They didn't know about it, my ass.
And, as to why they're doing this, it's probably a combination of the bad press the current defective editions have received and they're also spreading it across two "volumes" rather than two "seasons" because the first season had something like 32 episodes and the second season only had 16 or so. So they're probably just moving the last third of the first season onto the second volume with season two.

Does anyone know anything about the Complete Series set (in the Volumes configuration) exclusive to Borders? I saw it on the shelf a few weeks ago. I assume it's the same DVD-18s as before, but does anyone know if maybe these sets have resolved the playback problems of earlier releases?
