If you want Live Free or Die Hard to be rated R and not edited, post here

This probably won't accomplish anything, but if you want the film to be rated R -- hard R, not saving any crap for some stupid unrated DVD either -- then post here. If the post count gets high enough we could try and link this thread to the news sites like comingsoon.net and AICN and joblo.com and get more support, and then in turn try to get the information to the attention of Fox.

It's like a petition, sure, and they don't work, but all you have to do is post in the thread. It's worth a shot simply because it is so easy.

ALSO!

GO TO ANY MESSAGE BOARD YOU ARE AFFILIATED WITH AND START THIS SAME THREAD! If we have more than one string of people supporting this cause, and we can send multiple forum links to those websites it will be an even bigger charge.

This isn't an ad. This is MY idea and I'm just trying it for the hell of it. If it goes against forum rules, I have no problem with it being deleted but I feel that it is worth a shot.

Has this film been rated yet? Do we know it was cut to get a PG-13?

That's the beauty of this thread, though. If it gets an R, droidguy1119 can claim success!

By the way: I don't care if Die Hard 4 gets an R or not. If it doesn't, there'll be the inevitable "unrated" DVD.

There is a quote in the latest issue of Vanity Fair, apparently, in which Bruce Willis states that he is "disappointed" that the studio will cut the film to a PG-13. It was filmed as an R, though.

Since it has no rating, it makes more sense to make a pre-emptive attempt to get the rating to stay at R than to wait until they've already submitted it to the MPAA -- perhaps Fox has not made its decision yet and an argument for the R rating by the fans could be a deciding factor.

Well, if the extra scenes include a violent death for that Mac guy, I'm on board.

Unrated DVDs are a lame cash-in. I don't want to wait to see Die Hard the right way on DVD.

I would make a joke, but I can't think of any. I don't really care if I helped do it or not, I just want the movie to be rated R.

Your first impression is usually correct, and it is in this case too.

You can't know until you try. Since this requires such little effort on the part of people to participate (essentially you just did) I don't see why it hurts to make an attempt.

I don't see why they wouldn't leave it an R rating considering we've already had one film that's 7th on the list of all time R rated box office hits this year in 300.

what's in it for the studios to release it rated R? They get to release it twice as a PG-13 (theater and DVD) and then a third time as R or Unrated (DVD).

Cha-ching!

On most counts that would be true, but for this film, it makes little sense (artistic or business) for a PG-13. Any extra tickets they might sell will be offset by older fans not going... and I don't see kids being too interested in this one.

Take Bad Boys II (the most comparable recent film imo), a hard R that teens were certainly interested in(due to the actors). It made 138mill, which is a lot more than this film will make (regardless of the rating).

It's like they're trying to not make it too "Die Hard-ish" (the title, rating, etc) when that is it's best selling point. It should relish in the violence and profanity. In case anyone hasn't noticed, the non-Die Hard Bruce Willis movies haven't been lighting the box office on fire recently...

Is there any way to post here just to comment about how silly this is and not have it be counted as support?

It should really be rated G. Instead of shooting bad guys, Willis could throw lemon meringue pies at them, like Scott Baio did in Bugsy Malone.

I have no hopes that this will affect anything, but I'm with you; Die Hard is an R-rated franchise and should stay that way.

Why would they rate this PG-13? All of the others have been hard R's. I have no idea how many times they dropped the F-bomb between Bruce and Samuel L Jackson in the last go around.

They can't have a PG-13 Die Hard...they just can't...can they?? Here's hoping for another hard R Die Hard just like I like um.

Fox took 2 successful R-rated franchises (Alien and Predator) and combined them into a PG-13 crapfest. I expect them to do something similar here, just so little Timmy can watch the movie without mommy and daddy there.
