Wow, those are big numbers for Ghost Rider. I did not expect that since he's one of the "lesser" Marvel superheroes.

Nice to see Ghost Rider do well. I haven't caught it yet so hopefully I don't change my mind and think it should have done worse At this point i'm glad to see comic book movies continue to have success.

I caught Ghost Rider yesterday at 12:30 and it was packed, not surprised at the big number. Wish I liked the movie a little more though...

Wow, that's a damn huge number for Ghost Rider. Maybe $40+ mil for the three-day.

Hannibal Rising doesn't seem to be faring too well. More like Hannibal Falling.

With that take, it's more then just teenagers. And i'm planning on seeing it and consider myself neither dumb, nor a teenager

What does that have to do with anything? Have you seen it? I am not a teenager I am probably what is considered middle age and I saw it and actually enjoyed it.

It always a head scratcher when bad movies do beter than good/great films. Last King of Scotland came and went but a dumbass film like Norbit stays hot.

Ghost Rider has done really well, to bad it sucks. Maybe it will finally spur a Werewolf by Night film...

I'm not suprised Ghost Rider is pulling in big numbers this weekend, but the real test will be whether it can sustain any of this into the next weekend, or if it'll have a Daredevil or Hulk style drop-off.

It'll be the latter.

I really, really loved Bridge to Terabithia so I am glad it is doing well too.

I meant to see Ghost Rider as well, but it was sold out the whole day at my local theater so I hadn't a chance. I don't think they planned on it doing quite that well.

Why? McDonalds is the leader in Fast Food and their food isn't steller. AOL was a popular internet provider and their service is pretty low quaility. Folks go to Olive Garden for Italian food... Clearly, what the masses do doesn't equal quality.

Besides that, it's no surprise that GOOD films don't do all that well. Folks generally go for the easy pleaser. The film that will automaticlly offer laughs or a means to escape the daily life they live.

Ghost Rider may suck but it's a film you leave your brain at the door and open up those Harley Davidson desires that you always liked but never had the balls to live. That and it's a flaming fuck'n skeleton on a bike. How bitchin' is that shit, yo! see.. you can tell the mentality there and why they are excited over that over some real life event that may not be very "bitchin'" in the last king of scottland.

Well said!! It always amazes me when people bitch about movies making money just because THEY think the movie is crap. I have seen all kinds classics and stinkers, and am glad they make money so more movies can be made. It is weird that some get so pissed when a movie they feel has no value makes more money than one they feel is a classic... And don't give me the argument that movies like Ghost Rider will keep movies that are more dramatic, better quality etc... from being made, it won't.

I guess delaying the opening paid off. I think this is the only major movie that had a panel at Comic-Con two years in a row.

Nic Cage is such a teen heartthrob.

I'm not going this weekend, but I do want to see it (I'm 31, btw). More because of some misguided obligation to see every film adaption of comics that I used to collect, but still...
